It’s a Smith and Wesson SW40VE by the looks of things.
Piece of shit gun. Cheap Glock copy. Had nothing but trouble with them when they were our issued weapon. I was very happy we switched to the Glock.
Read the Wiki. Do you know of any LEO departments which sold the weapons on the market, legal under the “sunset” provisions (if that’s the correct term) of the magazine limit?
ETA: why did S&W go so glocky? Too timid for new designs? I would think a familiar S&W mechanism would be a selling point with the new materials, assuming such mechanisms were feasible at all.
Agencies usually don’t sell weapons outright to the public. They use them as trade ins with dealers/distributors, and whomever get’s the old weapons does whatever they want with them, which usually means they sell them.
You were actually issued one as a duty weapon? WTF!
I believe strongly in saving tax payers money, but not at the expense of officer safety!
I knew of an officer that carried her own on duty. One day, out of the blue and with the weapon secured in it’s holster, the magazine base plate and spring flew off and 14 bullets poured out the grip onto the ground.
It wasn’t just agency purchases exempt from the 10 Round limit. Any individual officer could purchase one personally if he desired. Any member of the US Military could also purchase the pistol with higher capacity magazines during the ban.
Yeah but you had to get a letter from your agency. And those stupid AWB mags had "law enforcement/guvmint use only’ stamped on them which meant you couldn’t [legally] resell them to just anyone.
It was all moot, anyway. For just a few bucks more you could buy pre-ban magazines. There were zillions of them out there!
Yep. The only time I felt the need to carry two guns. I had my own Glock 27 on my ankle. Didn’t trust the Sigma. I had more misfeeds and misfires than any other weapon I’ve ever fired. Light hits, stovepipes, broken springs… They were awful. Glock 31s for everyone now.
Market share. Glock was making too much money. Lets steal their design and do it cheaper.
And this happens on a regular basis?
You carry a .357 Sig? How does that shoot. I heard they bark pretty good. Is the recoil more/less than the .40, 45 ACP or the .357 revolver round?
No, of course not. (And I feel bad for the dude. Chiefs of police should make more than “slightly above minimum wage”. But, yeah, selling confiscated firearms has to be prosecuted.)
Sorry mistype. Glock 21 for patrol. As a detective I carry a Glock 30.
