What happened in this thread (OP edited, making my response irrelevant)

The original OP was just a one line question about whether tar roofs are the cause of global warming, followed by the mod note, and my response about tar roofs. Then somehow the OP was changed to the current question about underground homes. Now my response just looks stupid, but that’s not my question. How did the OP get changed? Why was that allowed when there was already a response to the original (flawed) question?

The OP changed it themselves within the edit window, I assume in response to my modnote.

We have a new user learning how the SDMB works and its culture.

I’m glad they went back at added to their OP. It makes for a much better thread.

Is the edit window still 5 minutes? I’m surprised that all that was able to happen in that amount of time.

It’s longer, I think 15 minutes, but I’m not sure.

Is there someone who does know? I think lots of us would be interested.

It’s 15 minutes.

I’m not an administrator, just a poster who has edited his posts 15 minutes after making them.

If you edit within 5 minutes, there is no notice that the post was edited. If you edit after 5 minutes, then you get the little marker notifying people that it was edited.

Thanks.

If you edit more than once, does each edit reset the timer?

I don’t believe so. I’m pretty sure that it’s 15 minutes from when the original version of the post was made.

It does not.

No it doesn’t.
