What happened to Moore's Law, Apple?

Is this even a little bit relevant?

Perhaps just living up to his name?

yes, because all computer parts are created equal and are all of the same quality, and therefore all cost exactly the same

Having fixed the hardware of both PCs and Macs, I can confirm that Macs are not made of any better parts. Hell, Apple had a whole run of 20" iMacs where 22 capacitors were bad. What did those wonderful folks at Apple do? Did they recall all of them? Did they even let the owners know there was a problem? Of course not. If it failed, they’d fix it, as they should have. They extended the warranty for two years. If it didn’t fail within the two years, you’re SOL.

No, Apple products are well designed, but they are made in the same Chinese factories as any other computer, from the same parts.

I hear he has a law blog.

:dubious: Can’t be anybody remotely knowledgeable about computers, IMO. Desktops are still way cheaper than comparably specced laptops, not to mention easier to build yourself and/or swap parts on.

The pinheads making those predictions are all professional writers, all of whom write on laptops (and don’t do anything more processor-intensive than Word and Skype). No, if I wanted to buy a laptop that could handle my HD video editing and encoding needs, I’d have to spend three times as much on it as I did for my desktop.

It’s a pet peeve of mine - people who want laptops, which then never leave the location where a desktop would sit.
