What Happened To Natalie Wood?

OMG! It must be a slow news week when they are this desperate. Digging up a 30 year old drowning of an inebriated celebrity?

All three web sites cnn, msnbc, and even Fox have this as a front page story.

Been down this dusty road thirty years ago, read the articles and don’t plan to waltz down memory lane again.

I will ask why in the heck did the police have to announce that the case was reopened? Couldn’t they quietly investigate this idiot Captains claims without a press release? Its so obviously a sick attempt to sell his sleazy book. Why make this asshole rich?

Hold on, everybody! We’re not giving a man who’s trying to make money the benefit of the doubt that he deserves! I mean, a man who allegedly told the truth 30 years ago, and now, only 30 years later, says he doubts the ‘official’ story…obviously, there is something tangible to it.

hh

Yeah, I haven’t seen any better reason put forward as to why he waited 30 years. The elapsed time certainly adds doubts as to the veracity and his memory.

30 years ago, I saw a UFO, and I now want to let everyone know…

I think that when Wood saw Wagner and Walken she turned to water.

How can they come up with new info after 30 years? I don’t see what will come out of this except celebrity talk.

Since this thread has been bumped, I read earlier today where Natalie Wood’s sister Lana is now saying that Capt. Davern told her that Natalie accidentally fell overboard, but her husband Robert Wagner, still angry about the fight that he and Natalie had earlier that night, told Davern to leave her in the water for a few minutes before fishing her out, in order to “teach her a lesson.”

If that is actually what happened, by my reckoning, both Robert Wagner and Capt. Davern have (metaphoric) blood on their hands, and should be brought up on manslaughter charges, if not a 2nd or 3rd Degree Murder rap.

I was named after Natalie Wood, and my folks made DAMN sure I took swimming lessons every damn summer. :stuck_out_tongue:

I still can’t tread water for shit, though.

That’s OK, Johnny got the what type of wood doesn’t float joke I was going to use.

It’s a good think they reopened this case, as I’m sure that everyone has much better memories in 2011 of what happened 30 years ago, then they did when it first happened.

Of course you were she was born first.

I’m sure Robert Wagner carries that night and what happened on his mind every day. The drinking, and verbal fight certainly contributed to her death.

I can’t see anything criminal here. Other than a delay in looking for her. They knew then there was a delay and still decided thirty years ago that it wasn’t anything but an tragic accident.

Shame that all this gets stirred up over a book that someone wants to sell.

I know.. I can see the cap’n’s motivation for talking about this, he has a book to flog, but I wonder about law enforcement. Are they just required to take any “new” information seriously, until they prove it’s bushwa?

Edit to add - answering my own question. Of course, law enforcement is required to take new information seriously in a case like this, but I wonder if the publicity originated with Captain Opportunistic and the cops are just answering press questions.

No, hiring an attorney is not an implication of guilt. It just means that there is an active criminal investigation that Walken has some connection to, so he is protecting himself. Especially if this captain is throwing around new implications.

Obviously the reason this case hasn’t been solved is that Stefanie Powers wasn’t called in to investigate.

I really don’t know anything about this case. My first response when hearing about this was “Wait, Natalie Wood was married to Robert Wagner?”

But I only vaguely remember Hart to Hart, and Natalie Wood is just a pop culture reference to me.

So, if she weighs the same as a duck…

Walken?

I will never, ever, ever understand what women find attractive.

He certainly hasn’t aged well, but back in the day, he was pretty hot.

Do you suppose Robert Wagner knows all the Natalie Wood jokes? (I always wondered if anyone ever told Helen Keller any Helen Keller jokes–I’ll bet *she *would have laughed her fingers off!)

I keep looking at Walken’s recent picture… <shudder>… good lord. That’s one celebrity I would recommend plastic surgery for, and I hardly ever think plastic surgery is a good idea.

Intensity.

FTR, I think Chris Walken is still hot.
He’s just so freaking weird. I think that’s pretty much the whole of his attractiveness for those of us who still find him…oddly hot.
