Natalie Holloway

Joran van der Sloot confessed on tape.

So here’s my spin… he fed her drugs so he can take sexual advantage of her; she OD’d since she has a very low resistence; he panicked; he called his drug-connection friend with the boat; the friend helped him get rid of her body; this way he wouldn’t be questioned for her OD’ing since it was all his doing.

Yeah, that’s how it played out.

I even recall the friend with boat speaking out early on in the story, and right off thought this guy was the one who hooked him up with his drugs, and figured he helped him get rid of the body somehow.

Damn, I’m good.

It’s pretty sad though, because she could have possibly been alive if he got her help right away. What a dumb shit.

That shit is disgusting. Now he says he lied on the tape. That’s the thing with lying-- once you’re spotted as one who’s to ever know if the truth passes from your lips.

I personally don’t buy that he had to give to her drugs to get her to have sex- she went willingly, and the substances she was reported to have taken on her own beforehand were probably enough to have her consent to have sex with a guy she just met. But her parents say she didn’t do drugs, and her friends said they don’t recall her being a big drinker, so she must have been stone cold sober and he must have drugged her, screw those reports of her poor decisions beforehand!

But I agree if true it was awfully callous of him to not call for help when a girl he was banging started having a seizure- calling for help to dump the body isn’t the first reaction of most people in that situation, unless there’s more to it.

You’ve got to understand how the pinhead Joran thought… he panicked when Natalie OD’d because he knew he would be questioned in her overdose if he took her to a hospital, and he was clearly responsible for her overdose. That’s when he called his drug-connection friend (that’s right) with the boat… the boat friend helped him get rid of her body since Joran probably made him feel somewhat responsible for setting Joran up with the drugs in the first place. They both took Natalie out to sea, where anyone who is aware of the Aruba waters would realize how rough and wild the ocean is there. There’s no way she would wash up to shore. Since the body had been disposed of, Joran saved himself from having to deal with an ugly “incident” that occured because of his own doing - slipping drugs in Natalie’s drinks…

This shows that Joran is a narcissist with a lack of respect for life, especially women’s life. Joran fancies himself as a real player, he doesn’t have time for dignity or compassion. Women are there to use and dispose of - especially if they create difficulty (as in OD’ing).

Do you recall the “friend with the boat” who showed up early in the Natalie Holloway case? He ended up being questioned and eventually arrested. This has got to be the same guy, the drug-connection friend with the boat. I had him clocked as Joran’s drug dealer at that point, and as the guy who helped him get rid of Natalie’s body. And that’s probably how it all played out…

Joran has no soul.

The dude’s guilty as all hell. In the least, he’s guilty of obstruction of justice.

Unfortunately, it looks as if Natalie had no common sense.

Well she was just a kid having fun, away from her family on an island with all her friends and probably partying and drinking too much… But I don’t think she was heavily into drugs, which probably explains why she OD’d in the first place.

I really think Joran slipped drugs in her drink. This would explain why he would choose to dump her body as opposed to getting her medical help; it was a guilt thing where he didn’t want to be held responsible for her overdose.

I didn’t have any common sense at that age either. I think it’s her parents that didn’t have any common sense when they let her go to Aruba with her friends after graduating from high school.

There is no way I would let my 17-18 year old daughter go to another country unsupervised. When I went away to college, I had very little idea about what guys would do if they wanted sex bad enough. An 18 year old who’s drunk and naive could be a drugging and/or rape waiting to happen.

It is customary for one to have their 17-18 year old child leave the home and travel unsupervised after graduating from high school. It’s called “college.”

I find it really hard to make the leap from the girl wasn’t showing common sense and made some stupid choices to the fact that she may have been tossed in the ocean, possibly alive, as being related. As if any time a kid makes a decision lacking common sense they deserve whatever happens to them no matter how bad. It’s like saying the woman who was raped was asking for it by the way she dressed and the fact she was in a bar, drinking and not showing any common sense. I hope Natalee’s family can at least feel some sense of closure one day. I wouldn’t wish what they have gone through on anybody.

Maybe he didn’t have Mary Kate Olsen’s phone number.

A drug dealer who doesn’t have the Olsen’s phone numbers? That seems unlikely.

Granted, you don’t deserve to die just because youre out drinking taking drugs and fucking at age 17 in a strange country with strange dudes when you’re supposed to be in bed, but you do get less sympathy than someone abducted and killed while walking home from the library. If you drive to the a bad part of town and get high in a crack house and get shot, you gotta share in at least part of the blame for your demise.

Forgive me if this is a hijack, but I was actually thinking about how much this case pisses me off earlier, and the thought of making a pit thread crossed my mind. Seems there’s already one, so I’ll add my two cents.

But I don’t fucking care. I know the spiel about “if you don’t like it, turn it off,” and I’m usually the first to preach it. But this shit is ridiculous. Every damn network news show has “the latest update on the Natalee Holloway” case, and it’s near impossible to avoid. For days now, I’ve been subjected to random bits and pieces of this case that I never actually cared about. I don’t know who the hell Joran van der Sloot is, and I never knew who Natalee Holloway was.

Sounds like there’s an inkling of closure coming out of this thing. I’m sure the parents are happy for that at least, but I’m pretty psyched, myself. Maybe we can get back to covering some real national news soon.

That’s all. Again, I apologize if this is threadshitting or hijacking or whatnot.

So, you’ll believe the bit where he calls a friend to dump the body, but you won’t believe the bit where her and her friends were doing coke and she was letting him do shots off her navel? Had to be a roofie 'cos she was just not that kind of girl?

I feel ya. I have sympathy for the family obviously (they certainly didn’t bring this on themselves and I won’t cheapen their loss by saying I know how they must feel), but I doubt any of the news outlets could care less whether the case is solved or not except as ratings fodder and their looks of concern over what is, however tragic, NOT worth national news for hours and hours and hours and hours is sickening.

But just as WW2 gave us the ball point pen, at least this gave us the term The Nancy Grace Missing Rich White Girl Syndrome.

In Birmingham where Natalie was from (sorta kinda- she grew up in a very affluent bedroom community) there were four other people, two of them teenagers, who went missing the same week and were also never found. The teenagers (no relation to each other and no known relation between their disappearances) were both black and from poor neighborhoods, but about the only press they ever got or ever get is when an editorial mentions that nobody seems to greatly care about poor black teenagers who go missing, whereupon they’ll get a “no update” in the paper and perhaps on local B’ham news but nothing national of course. They should have gone to Aruba instead.

It is clear that Joran is a bit of a sociopath who doesn’t have an empathic bone in his body.
But I have to say that I think Peter R. de Vries is just about as big a creep.
The way he interviewed Mom Holloway was just disgusting and painful to watch.

Natalie appears to be a bit of a “Girls gone Wild Springbreak WOOOHOOO”-type and just snorted too much coke that night and drank too much.
It’s just really sad that Joran didn’t have enough brain to understand that he wouldn’t have gotten into any trouble if he had just called an ambulance.
The only thing they could have busted him for was doing coke, which I don’t think is a very big deal in Aruba.

What *really * sucks is that this means six more weeks of Nancy Grace. . . :frowning:

There is a difference between going to college (where some people actually study, go to class and so forth) and going to a beach trip as a graduation celebration.

That’s my point, exactly. After graduation, kids usually get a job and mature a little bit after being out of the cocoon of high school. To let their child go to a strange country unsupervised immediately after graduation was irresponsible.
