How Did Joran Van Der Sloot Dispose of Natalee Holloway?

I just finished an excellent book about the murders of Holloway and Stephany Flores (Peru), by the notorious criminal VanDer Sloot (“Portrait of a Monster” by Lisa Pulitzer and Cole Thompson).
The book summarizes the whole botched investigation of the Holloway case.
Fotunately, the Peruvian police have a very solid case against Van Der Sloot-he is likely to get a conviction and long jail sentence.
In any case, it still is unclear how Joran disposed of Holloway’s body- despite exhaustive searches by the Aruban Police, FBI agents, volunteers and the Dutch Marines, no trace of her was ever found-no clothing, blood, or body parts.
Which leads to my theory-Joran must have had access to a boat-he probably weighed the body down with chains and concrete blocks, and dumped her in deep water.
In the book, Joran was interrogated several time (by the Aruban police, special agents flown in from Holland, and by the FBI-each time he gave contradictory stories. His father also seemed determined to obstruct the investigation.
In any case, the book is a good read-this Van Der Sloot seems a classic psychopath-killing those two girls meant nothing to him-didn’t bother him in the least.
His mother also comes across badly-she kept sending money tp the little shit.

It’s a big ocean. Holloway’s family has paid for ultrasound ocean floor searches, and several times they thought they’d found something suspicious, but a dive recovered nothing. Their grief is certainly understandable, and wanting to have a body to bury so they can mourn is a natural desire for parents who have lost a child.

My guess would be the ocean. Wasn’t there some evidence that pointed to Van Der Sloot having a friend with a boat? He most likely took her out to open water, far enough that the incoming tide would not carry the body back, and tossed her overboard. Though it is very odd that no evidence of this act ever turned up.

The world will most likely never know for certain.

I feel really bad for Holloway’s parents. They tried so hard to get that little bastard put away, and sure enough, he killed again anyway.

Must be pretty easy. If you know how to read tide charts. They’ll sweep the body far out to sea.

Another lady went missing last month. American tourist Robyn Gardner disappeared. Same deal, no blood, body or anything. They suspect the husband.

The woman you are referring to wasn’t married, and the guy they suspect in her disappearance was just some character (apparently with a background of physically attacking young women) that she met online less than a year ago…

Not the husband.

IIRC, van der Sloots trial in Peru is still coming up. Maybe he will tell the truth IF he finds it worth the effort. He has sent her parents on several wild goose chases with made-up stories about the body before, and he has even tried to extort the Natalies mom for money.

Indeed, he is a classic psychopath. I hope they lock him up for life and throw away the key. He is one of those for whom I think the death penalty is the best option.

“Little” bastard is how I always thought of him, viewing him on TV. I was surprised to learn that he stands 6’3 and is described as being “husky.” He’s a big butt-ugly monster.

.

I haven’t really ever followed this case. Is it known for sure that he killed her? Is it known for sure that she’s definitely dead?

I’m not looking to spin any alternate theories, just wondering how nailed down it is that she’s for sure dead, and he for sure killed her.

All circumstantial. She was last seen with him in an inebriated state very late at night on the beach. She was never heard from again.

Indeed. A family friend just disappeared while diving in Hawaii. He was part of a dive group and nobody noticed he had separated from the group until they got back to the boat and counted. Despite knowing exactly where and when he went in the water, they searched for four days and found no sign of him except for a fin that might have been his.

I don’t think it was ever thought of as “for sure”, until dead woman number two turned up. Having something like that happen twice to one guy seems unlikely to most sane people.

Joran has some ‘splanin’ to do.

There is also hidden camera footage from a Dutch investigative news magazine, (similar to shows like “60 Minutes” or “20-20”) that has JVDS confessing/bragging about dumping her body at sea, but it seems like I remember that he claimed that he didn’t actually kill her, instead she died from an accidental OD after they had been consensually sexually intimate, and he panicked, fearing that he would be blamed for murdering her.

I’ve seen enough episodes of “Locked Up Abroad” to know he’s going to have a really hard time in a Peruvian prison. The episode I saw about an American guy in prison in Peru showed really horrible conditions and I’m pretty sure Van der Sloot is going to be thrown in with the general population (a bunch of really great guys!). And all the prisoners are going to know exactly who he is and what he did to a Peruvian girl.

Showing Van der Sloot’s life in a South American prison would be a great reality show.

In one of the earlier threads on Joran i linked too such footage. It seems he has a private cell, and he hasn’t got it that bad.

It doesn’t speak well of your criminal justice system if your accused ends up dead before the trial. They are bending over backward to treat him well while the eyes of the world are on them.

It must be time for me to go to bed. I read the thread title as Jan van der Stool

As I say, most murderers get caught because of mistakes made in disposing of the victim’s body-they usually overlook a blood stain, or an article of clothing…or a personal posession. And Joran had very little time-probably no more than 6-8 hours. He had to conceal the body, find a boat, get someone (who he could trust), go out to sea, and dump the body (making sure that it would sink).
He then had to clean everything up, and get back to his home, and concoct an alibi.
The police questioned Joran, the Kaalpoe brothers, and two other suspects-everybody but Joran gave consistent stories. His statements changed, and his father got him legal representation right away.
If Joran killed Natalee like the Peruvian girl, (violent strangulation), it is likely that he would have had scratches/injuries on his face and hands-these were not present.
In the case of the Stephany, robbery was the motive-Joran was broke (he had lost $20,000 in the casino), and Stephany had money.
As far as I know, Natalee had no funds on her-so maybe sexual assault was the issue.
In any case, unless this violent psychopath decides to tell the truth, it is unlikely that the Holloway case will ever be solved.

Does Joran’s father have a boat? Perhaps his dad’s involvement goes deeper than simply obstructing the investigation.
