What happened to the Game Show Network?

This station seems to really have downhill. I watched this channel avidly from around 2000-2004. I loved watching all the old game shows and some of their original programming was decently, especially Whammy and Lingo.

With my weird work schedule, I’ve been spending some time watching GSN now and I can’t believe how bad the programming is. It seems like most of the programming is versions of Family Feud, Newlywed Game, and $100,000 Pyramid. Of course, these 3 game shows have been on the air with various hosts through the years, but it seems like these 3 shows make up more than 50% of the programming.

I guess the late night broadcasts of the classic black and white shows are gone, replaced with infomercials.

While they used to run shows like Millionaire and Weakest Link into the ground, it would be nice to see some of those late 1990s/early 2000s shows from the game show revival.

I’d also like a much wider variety of 1970s and 1980s shows. I know that for many of these shows, not all the episodes survive. But, it would be nice to show what they have.

That’s the $64,000 question, isn’t it?

Network drift. TV Tropes link.

I don’t think GSN is actually suffering from network decay. In fact, they’ve actually gone back to game show programming after taking a fling at reality show programming. ‘Reality doesn’t repeat.’ proved to be true since who wants to watch an old episode of Survivor when you already know who is going to be voted off.

It’s just that their lineup of game shows seems very limited as compared to what they’ve offered in the past.

I hardly ever watch TV anymore but when I did I loved Lingo and was it Card Sharks with Alfonso Riberaio?

Catch-21

Noted.

Family Feud is my most favorite show to watch on the station. So far, I think that Steve Harvey has done a wonderful job being the new host.

God bless you and him always!!!
