IMDB says Janet Hubert-Whitten was fired “because of pregnancy,” but all the reports at the time stated that she was too much of a prima donna (she was Juilliard educated) and frequently had “professional differences” with Will Smith, who ultimately asked that she be removed after the 1993 season.
I recall seeing her interviewed on some Hard Copy-type show a few years ago, in which she talked about how she regrets her behavior that led to her getting the axe.
