What happened to WTOP (DC radio-AM1500)

I was down towards the capital yesterday, and as I am wont to do I switched to 1500 when the Baltimore station that I was listening to faded out, but instead of the news format that has been WTOP’s stock in trade for, oh, just about my entire life, I got something called “Washington Post Radio”, a talk format. What happened? Is there still a WTOP, and if so, where can I find it on the dial?

WTOP moved to 103.5 FM

Engendering a series of horrid commercials where a guy is confused by the switch and his wife asks him “What frequency are you on?” She’s pretty cute though.

You can still find it on AM as well, but I’m not sure what the number is. Now though you can really hear the station forever, I’ve picked it up near Springfield Wext Virginia a couple of weeks ago. Not very clear but still at least now you can hear it going around the beltway.

WTOP-1500 used to have a very strong signal. I remember picking it up once while driving outside of Boston.

According to the WTOP web site, they also transmit on 820 AM.
