What happens if Trump is indicted in Georgia? (Indicted on August 14, 2023)

ga is really the most threat for trump. the laws down there are really something.

i’m wondering if trump will get in trouble for his witness tampering truth social today. it isn’t the dc case, is it just the dc case or any tampering.

I missed this. What did he say?

If you’re being charged for crimes in multiple jurisdictions, I’d probably recommend against trying to threaten jurors in any one of them, on a public platform.

Can a witness say no to that request? If I’m in the middle of a root canal, or just having lunch with a friend, do I have to drop everything and hightail it to the courthouse if the DA calls, or can I just say “I’m scheduled for tomorrow, so I’ll see you tomorrow”?

It was quite fascinating. Apparently, the burden of proof that you’re not going to be a problem child while on bail is on the defendant – which is unusual. Weissman seemed to feel Trump may struggle with the issue of not posing a threat of witness intimidation or tampering.

Ya think?

Typically they’ll be given notice that its a possibility, “Dear Witness, proceedings start Monday. You are most likely going to be called Tuesday, but if we need you Monday afternoon, we’ll give you a call.” If they said “We are certain that we won’t need you Monday,” then they can go and get their root canel.

Even if he’s indicted today, they’re still going to have to set a date for Trump and others to surrender to the Court for arraignment. Wonder how that will go.

Probably about the same as the other ones. Trump’s had a lot of practice of late.

Didn’t Sen. L. Graham (R-SC) try to convince the GA SoS to throw out ballots? I can’t be the only one who’s super excited about the possibility of seeing a sitting Republican Senator get indicted.

Ah yes…

This proceeding is going to be quite different to the others we’ve seen, I think. There are going to be a lot of co-defendants. There will be cameras in the courtroom. The rules are different. I’m fascinated!

Except this time we get mug shots, and there will be cameras in the court room.

There is something really intriguing about the idea of Trump facing real consequences for blowing off formerly accepted rules of civil society and acting like a colossal ass. There is something really appealing about him not getting bail, were that to happen.

It’s possible! Fani Willis strikes me as a woman who, in the current vernacular, don’t play.

i may break out some serious celebrational beverage should graham get charges. there will be quite the dance as well, perhaps a really odd haka.

Is this unusual because it’s specific only to Georgia and maybe a few other places, or for some other reason?

Yeah, I’m not holding my breath, but just the possibility…i can’t even finish the sentence without breaking into a ear-to- ear grin. Why, heavens to Betsey, what a delicious thought! Lindsey Graham, voter fraud, indictments, arraignments, it’s just too much for this boy to handle!

I know it’s different to California, but that’s the extent of my knowledge on it. It seems peculiar to Georgia. Often rules like these are crafted for the usual defendant – poor, persons of color, etc.

Kind of funny when they must be enforced for one such as Trump.

I’m just hoping there’s a connection between this Charybdis and our boys in Arizona, Gosar and Biggs. The two objected with the way Trump was cheated out of his fair win in this state but had no problem accepting their own race’s results, like the stupid Deep State was only interested in the top line of the ballot.

That kind of hypocrisy is simply breathtaking to me. It defies basic logic that anyone with remedial intelligence ought to be able to think their way through. But they don’t. It never fails to leave me shaking my head.

And you’re right – Gosar and Biggs are two very dangerous individuals. I do think Fani Willis’s proposed prosecution crosses state lines. Thanks, RICO!

I really hope that during Trump’s arraignment, the judge looks him square in the tiny pig eyes, and says something along the lines of:

“Mr. Trump, you have smeared the prosecutor in this case in the media. You have told witnesses not to cooperate. Please tell me right now what you plan on saying about this case in the media going forward, and tell me why I should grant you bail.”

If he bloviates, the judge should lean into the courtroom mike and say in a booming voice “WRONG. Would you like to try again?”

Bonus points if the judge gets to say “This is MY COURT, and you will behave in a respectful manner or I will instruct the bailiff to remove you to a cell.”
