About 20 years ago I tried getting through all of them. I gave up at Chapterhouse, but I have to admit I really stopped having any idea what Frank Herbert was talking about soon after Messiah. I’ve always been pretty curious where the storyline was going though.
Yeah, I would quite like to know too. I only got as far as God Emperor, which I found a penance to get through. Was their ever a series that started so brilliantly as Dune, and went downhill so quickly?
Surely this belongs in CS, though, and needs a big spoiler warning in the title. Thus reported.
Short version: Duncan Idaho turns out to be the ultimate Kwizatz Haderach, having achieved it, not by breeding, but by virtue of living the exact same life over and over again for 8,000 years until he learned to see through all the BS.
Long version: Fuck if I know, because I never actually bothered to read the B. Herbert/Anderson novels.
I’m waiting for the movie to come out.

Also, title edited to include spoiler warning.
And what does that do for him?
I stopped at around Chapterhouse, and likewise found God Emperor was a slog. Another spoiler site told me the ultimate goal of the Kwizatz Haderach is:
To selectively breed a portion of humanity immune to prescience. Therefore, no matter what the Bene Geserit et al develop into, at least some are beyond their control, and in some form, humanity will endure.
That was what the God Emperor was working towards, the ultimate destiny that Paul was too afraid of to face. I mean, c’mon, that was sooo obvious that’s what God Emperor was about.
Have you tried the Dune wiki? I don’t dare touch it, but maybe someone knows if it would have your answer.
I never got past the first chapter or two of Chapterhouse Dune. I found the prequels fairly easy to follow, though.
