What happens to banned users?

They go to hell and get burned up!

You are probably correct that it cannot be determined how many banned posters have sneaked back in under a different name, and behaved themselves well enough to avoid appearing on the mod radar, but it doesn’t affect the boards much. If they are behaving, what harm is there?

So the answer to “What happens to banned users?” (who sneak back in and behave themselves is “not much, nor does it need to”.

Oh sure, that’s how sleeper cells get started…

We need to build a wall around the SDMB, and make Mexico pay for it.

Bangladesh, actually.

“Oh, my goodness gracious yes, my name is Chuck, and how am I helping you today with technical support with the Straight Doop Massage Board?..”

I did.

To be frank, your very first sentence (which was “These assertions have very little basis.”) is completely wrong.

Beyond wanting to correct that, I have no other opinions about anything else you’ve said in this topic.

For lesser offenses, what happens? Do you get a PM from a moderator detailing the action taken (mod note, warning etc.) or is it up to you to notice the moderator post regarding the offense?

If a poster gets a warning, they automatically get a PM (the system is set up to where we have to PM them the reason for the warning, on top of saying why in the thread the offense happens in).

For notes, we usually just post it in the thread and it’s up to the poster to check back and see it, however (and this is something I, personally, do…not sure if any other mod does; I’m speaking only for myself) I’ve recently taken to PMing posters I give notes to and linking them to it, just in case they don’t return to the thread for whatever reason and don’t ever see it.

My name is Leo Bloom and I was publicly mod-noted and PM’ed with the same content by Idle Thoughts.

Most interesting to me was the title/subject: Take Notice.

Is that boilerplate? (You don’t have to reply on this.)

I’m assuming paid members who are banned don’t get any sort of partial refund.

No, they do not get any sort of partial refund. This is mentioned in the registration agreement (not that anyone ever reads the registration agreement…)

[QUOTE=SDMB registration agreement as of 12/21/2014]

Subscribers who are banned forfeit all subscription fees they have paid.

There’s a registration agreement?
