FIGWIT stands for “Frodo Is Great, Who Is That?”
Brian
It stands for Frodo Is Great…Who Is That?! It came about that when we (the Tolkien loser geeks) were watching the Council of Elrond, we decided that Frodo Is Great…then the camera panned and we saw…well, we don’t know…Who Is That?! Thus, Figwit is born.
No elfish intended.
And Boba Fett does indeed speak.
To Darth Vader, in regards to his mission to find/bring back Luke/Han/Leia etc…I’m a bit fuzzy on that…

Ah, N9IWP you beat me to it! For Hobbit’s sake! : )
Don’t forget Boba screaming like a girlyman as a blind guy takes him out!
I think you are confusing the word “seldom” with the word “never”.
Maybe it’s because for a big chunk of her life she didn’t know she was Steven Tyler’s daughter. I heard she grew up thinking Todd Rundgren was her father.
Figwit… how I laughed at that site! Thanks, Monstre, for the link. It seems that everyone has a fan site now.
As someone else mentioned, Sean Astin is hardly a novice in directing. He and his wife have a production company, Lava Entertainment. His new short film is playing at Sundance, and can be viewed at the Sundace site… I think it’s at http://www.sundanceonlinefilmfestival.org/showcase01_02.html# Ain’t It Cool has an explanation of the people you see on screen. It’s a very sweet film.
Yea, didn’t they meet by chance or at one of his shows and they both immediately noticed a striking resemblence and decided to investigate? I think that’s the story I heard, seriously.
FIGWIT!!! HA! The power of the internet!
I like it. THAT guy will be the one sitting next to Dirk Benedict and George Takai…and PORKINS!
As for Astin’s directorial future, the day the RotK was released, there was a feature article on him in the Houston Chronicle. His dream project is to direct a movie about the Hurricane that destroyed Galveston in 1900.
He sees it as a big FX type project with human drama.
I think he needs to direct some smaller flicks before helming that one.
Really? In my mind he is forever associated with Goonies.
He’s directed a few TV eps. I distinctly remember his name popping up as the director of an episode of Angel.
He’s got a recurring part in Jeremiah.
I imagine that Elijah Wood will finally blink.
I recently read that Billy Boyd will be playing the title role in…
Wait for it…
THE SEED OF CHUCKY !!!
Yes, a homicidal doll! They’re apparently going to make the doll look somewhat like Billy, and, of course, he’ll supply the voice.
Hey, I heard that The Bride of Chucky was pretty good…
And Sean Astin is apparently VERY interested in directing the big-screen, live-action version of Marvel Comics’ The Fantastic Four. He’s been seen buying old issues of the series.
Did anybody see Astin in 50 First Dates? A small, goofy role, but I thought he was pretty funny. Definitely a far cry from playing Sam Gamgee.
Whenever I play the Cradle level of the N64 Goldeneye game, and Trevelyan says, “For England James?”, I think “No, because you tried to take the ring from Frodo.” before the ending animation.
<sigh> I keep hearing they all hung themselves in the background sometime during ROTK
I suspect all hobbits will be the Mark Hamills of this generation, particularly Elijah Wood. They will be tied to their LOTR characters for the rest of their careers. After a few roles in big budget movies, which will tank, they will gain only small roles in B grade flicks parodying the characters which made them famous.
They will die bitter and broke, supplementing their income with neverending LOTR movie conventions, and whoring themselves out to every stranger who asks “I’ll give you 5 bucks if you show me your tatoo.”
Yeah, just like Harrison Ford was typecast by those Star Wars pics.
Anyway, Hamill did ok for himself. He writes, does plays, and provides voices for lots of cartoons. And seems to be enjoying life. A far cry from your dire prediction.
The average individual should suffer such a devastating fate.
Sigh, they’re all so cute that I just like to watch them all together, like on the red carpet for the Oscars. They have this great man-love yet not quite homoerotic aura about them, and they’re always touching each other…
I’m sorry, it’s not something that i’m proud to admit, but they (together, not individually) get me all hot. I hope that whatever they do in their career they all stay friends so that they can appear in public together for my lurid amusement.
