Don’t worry, you’re not the only pervy hobbit fancier out there. I’ve got a soft spot for Billy Boyd in particular. Now I just have to hope for that comedy he’s writing with Dominic Monaghan to get made…
The fact that three of the four hobbits have already moved onto fairly major supporting roles (Elijah Wood in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Sean Astin in 50 First Dates, and Billy Boyd in Master and Commander) would seem to indicate otherwise. The difference between Hamill and the hobbits, as others have pointed out, is that they all have had fairly extensive (and solid) careers prior to LOTR. The fact that they all seem intent on taking on roles that are dramatically different from their LOTR roles should help stave off the brick wall of typecasting.
Well, not quite. Liv was already acquainted with Steven Tyler through her mother, Bebe Buell, and had suspected for some time that he might be her bio dad. Then when her mom took her to an Aerosmith concert she met Mia Tyler (now a successful plus-size model), Steven Tyler’s daughter by Cyrinda Foxe-Tyler. Liv and Mia are about the same age, and there’s an obvious family resemblance. They both realized that they must have the same dad, and Buell confirmed it when Liv asked her after the show.
Mark Hamill also had a pretty bad motorcycle accident which kind of screwed up his face. Hard to be a successful Hollywood actor when your facial expressions have been limited by reconstructive surgery and you aren’t very pretty either.
If I were a Hollywood producer, I’d be looking to cast Billy Boyd in a Hugh Grant/Tom Hanks-ish romantic comedy. Charming, not bad looking (but somehow still ordinary looking) guy meets girl sort of thing.
That hasn’t stop Sylvester Stallone.
As for the rest of the hobbits, they may have had plenty of roles beforehand, but, none of them made them household names. And I don’t think their roles in the LOTR series will change that. Kudos to them if they do, but I don’t think anything they do afterwards will overshadow what they have done in LOTR.
Oh, definitely not. I got a sharp note from Samwise regarding what would happen if I tried anything.
Did you see B.Boyd on the Sharon Osbourne show? (I have Tivo set to record anything with ROTK in the description – I don’t normally watch the show). He sang a Britney Spears song, accompanying himself on the guitar. Quite charming, actually.
So will “Seed of Chucky” speak in a Scottish accent? If so, I somehow can’t envision the character as being very frightening!
Smilin’ Jack Ruby of CHUD.com got to talk to Elijah Wood at a press junket for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind…
That’s the extent of S.J.R.'s talk with Elijah, but you can find the rest of the article here…

He also talks with Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Kate Winslet and, of course, Jim Carrey…
Here is a link to what all the hobbits are doing next…
No, I missed it.
I have seen a clip of the song though, and couldn’t stop laughing.
Except for that car accident which messed up his face a bit.
