What happens when Trump comes for the SDMB?

I always operate under the assumption that everything put on the internet is forever, and that given enough interest/will they will be able to find me.

Up until Trump 1.0/2.0 I didn’t think it would be my government coming for me, more about ever more targeted and intrusive ads or perhaps super-paranoid employers. Still, there is nothing I’ve said (okay, maybe a few things I’d wince a bit) that I would not be willing to own up to, though maybe not with as such “Molon Labe” enthusiasm as @hajario.

Still, if we get to that point, indeed, a raised finger (or worse) is the only appropriate response. That said, I still think it’s infinitely more likely that we’d go dark with no notice because someone far above our control decides something is drawing unwanted attention and we all go into the dark unknowingly.

The Terms of Service are here.

The TOS include this interesting statement:

We do not expect rigorous compliance with laws in other countries, especially censorship laws in authoritarian states.

I’m sure that was written before we found ourselves on a waterslide to Hell. While it was probably intended to apple to foreign autocracies, it would be transparently hypocritical to acquiesce to domestic fascism.

Immediate capitulation, I have no doubt.

Google, Meta and Reddit all turn over user identities after DHS serves them with administrative subpoenas.
