What has been the worst ever crime of the Assad family, bar the chemical attacks?

I know I have not been here in a long time, but because Quora won’t answer my question, I will ask it here for a more reliable audience.

As you all know, Syria is among the most embattled countries on Earth, if nor the most considering that Syria is second only to North Korea in terms of the shittiness of its government.

I know that Assad’s gangs have committed many, many crimes, but what has been the worst? I’ll ask you to leave out the myriads of chemical weapons used in the war, since that is basically self-redundant.

I’m very unsure whether this should go in some other section though.
