Demi Moore was recently in a Charlie’s Angels movie. Harrison Ford also just had a recent release.
Patric Swayze - After Donnie Darko… seems like nothing.
Demi Moore - Made a few low acclaim and straight to video movies. She’s more famous for her little boy-friend.
Charlie Sheen - Has a hit sitcom… seriously his career is pretty good now.
Emilio Estevez - He’s a tv director now. He works steadily.
Ralph Macchio - ?
Harrison Ford - He still makes a movie every two or so years.
Stallone - He produced and starred in some boxing reality show. His movies mostly go straight to video now. BUT Rocky 6 comes out soon.
I would hardly call Emilio Estevez or Ralph Macchio “stars,” let alone “mega-.”
I ran into Patrick Swayze two or three years ago in Midtown, and he looked like a perfectly nice-looking middle-aged businessman.
Patrick Swayze is currently treading the boards in London in Guys and Dolls.
Patric Swayze - Never a very talented actor, lost his looks.
Demi Moore - Never a very talented actress, lost some of her looks, made some obnoxious movies in the 90’s.
Charlie Sheen - Made too many dumb comedies, now hasw a hit sitcom.
Emilio Estevez - Was never anything more than a lower-rent Charlie Sheen. Grew old.
Ralph Macchio - Went where 99% of all child actors go.
Harrison Ford - Chickenshit. A coward. Refused to take a pay cut in return for interesting, callenging roles, and instead kept on making the same type of movies for diminishing returns. Should have been an “elder statesman” by now, but his ego is too big.
Stallone - Never a very talented actor (except in the right role), grew old, and his particular sub-genre of Big Dumb Action Movies went out with the 80’s.
With the exception of Ford, Sheen and possibly Stallone, the question is not why they stopped being stars, but rather why they were stars in the first place.

[li]Patric Swayze - Was never mega, more like a one-hit wonder (ok, two hits, Dirty Dancing & Ghost) I would say worst actor of this bunch[/li][li]Demi Moore - Quit acting to raise kids (also was 90% eye candy anyway)[/li][li]Charlie Cheen - Brat packer, never really became a great actor[/li][li]Emilio Estevez - ditto[/li][li]Ralph Macchio - Shot up too fast w/KK (though he did have another w/My Cousin Vinny but nobody really noticed he was in it)[/li][li]Harrison Ford - Got really lucky with SW & Indiana, now cashes $20M paycheck & sleepwalks thru roles, was never a great actor either[/li][li]Stallone - see above[/li][/ul]
Ralph Macchio is the only one on that list that I’ve not seen [on TV/in a movie] in years…
Me neither, but a quick look over at IMDB reveals that his longest dry spell was between 1993 and 1998. He did four things in 2000, and three since then. Not exactly a backbreaking schedule, but he’s still bringing home a paycheck from acting.
(He also really lost his looks. Not disgusting or anything, but not beautiful, either. Grew up to be an Ordinary Guy.)
He looks like Steve Guttenberg’s younger brother.
Ralph Macchio is co-starring in the movie coming out this fall, “Beer League”…
He also had a hilarious cameo in Entourage - I think Season Two (can’t remember, I watched the DVD’s)…
I have it in my head that he’s a movie or tv director.
could be wrong, tho.

I started a poll on actresses whose looks faded fast. Harrison Ford went from looking fantastic to nothing special within months. Not sure which months, though. And don’t you think the Sean Connery of Goldfinger looks absoutely nothing like the same guy 10 years ago?
What about Eric Stoltz? Big star ten years ago; almost disappeared now.
Bless, I’ve often wondered where Daniel-san was these days, thanks!
Actually, Patrick Swayze purposely dropped out of the spotlight for a while to seriously compete at the national level with his Arabian stallion Tammen. If I recall, Tammen was a top ten horse in halter at the National championships, And I remember everyone talking about Patrick showing him in native costume as well. Unfortunately, Tammen passed away a couple years ago.
Patric Swayze - Funny. I just saw him in some dumb SciFi channel movie called “Dragon Sword” with Michael Clark Duncan and Piper Parabo.
Demi Moore - Still working. Married to Ashton Kusher and was a villain in Charles Angels: Full Throttle
Charlie Sheen - Currently stars in the sitcom Two and a Half Men with John “Duckie” Cryer. Also stars in the Scary Movie films.
Emilio Estevez - Not much of note since Mighty Ducks
Ralph Macchio - Not much since Cousin Vinnie other than his Entourage cameo.
Harrison Ford - Still working, including this year’s Firewall and some upcoming film about Falluja. Oh and apparently they’re making an Indiana Jones 4.
Stallone - Unless they plan on making Rambo IV or Rocky VI, I think his career’s …aaahhh crap.
Zing!
Makes me wonder what these people, and lesser stars (I hesitate to call any of them “stars”) do between gigs. I’ve yet to hear of any billboards telling us to call Ralph at ReMax but I don’t live in LA.
This is not to take away from the many “stars” who made a killing in real estate, and I’m sure Eve can tell of some who made such killings in early LA urban sprawl that there was no point in acting any more.
