What I don't like about Hillary Clinton (non-partisan observations and impressions)

Like everything else connected to the Clintons, their Foundation isn’t big on transparency, and it’s not easy to tell where the money goes once its donated. It’s suspicous that they’ve used a Canadian shell company to hide the identity of foreign donors. Bill & Hillary probably have a list of people they owe favors to longer than the NYC phone book.

Well, we certainly can’t have a president that owes anyone any favors!

A slight correction:

A generic welcome to immigrants is more in keeping with the Democrat tradition of welcoming new, Democrat voters into the country, legally or illegally.

Thanks.

Is that the sound of a goalpost moving? Why, yes it is.

No, it isn’t. It’s still a shady organization that only gives [del]10%[/del] 15% of its income to charity. The rest goes into a number of ill-defined projects like “increasing opportunities for girls,” and it’s basically impossible to determine how much, if any, of the money is actually going to do anyone any good. Charity Navigator has the Clinton Foundation on its watch list for exactly these reasons. Some analysts have openly accused the Foundation of being a slush fund.

At least half the problem lies with Hillary herself, and her tendency to figuratively stick her fingers in her ears and shout “I can’t hear you! La La La!” instead of actually responding to anything.

ETA: For an example of how to get out ahead of things, look at what Jeb Bush did yesterday. He directly took on the “dynasty” issue, saying “It’s nobody’s right and nobody’s turn” to be president. It was also noted that neither his dad nor his brother were present at his announcement. I still don’t want him to win, specifically because of the dynasty issue, but this is an example how to not ignore your problem & hope it goes away.

The Bushes are (almost by definition) rather more dynastic than the Clintons, so it’s a much bigger problem for Jeb. That, and the legacy of the prior Bush presidencies (the more recent one, anyway) is fucking awful, while most people were pretty okay with the Clinton presidency.

Considering how she’s been hounded from the right for multiple decades for every potential or imagined scandal, including staying married to her husband after he cheated (seriously, WTF, “family values” rightwingers?!), I certainly can’t blame her for rolling her eyes every now and then.

Excuse me? That mostly came from the feminist crowd. Kindly pack up your straw men, please.

He also said he met his first president when he was born and the second when he came home from the hospital. I have no idea why he thought that belonged in his coming out speech.

Your posts read like a Fox News article. Do you have any cites from objective news organizations? Or just regurgitations of inuendo? (Remember that the thread title asks for “non-partisan observations and impressions.”)

“The charge against Hillary is that she was an enabler, not a victim, of her husband’s extramarital affairs, a long string of which culminated in the White House encounters with Monica Lewinsky.”

That, by the way, comes from **Republican **National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and **Republican **Senator Rand Paul.

Both well-known feminists, I imagine.

Well, she’s not wrong, is she?

Bill Clinton has already stated, just last week, that if Hillary wins the election (doesn’t the nomination come first) then he would stop accepting charity money for his charity, but I think he may be to late with that thought.

Anymore dirty laundry will cause a shift to the other side.

According to the SO, what should she have done instead?

I think Hillary has gotten much better in her speech-giving lately. I’m sure countless hours of coaching are paying off.

The problem with Hillary is just that the public already knows who she is. A ruthless Washington-for-lifer with little sense of humor or charisma. Even supporters don’t really “like her” but will support her since she is the presumptive Democratic nominee.

She’ll probably make a decent president. I’m not sure what Republican can mount a proper challenge to her. Jeb Bush is a BUSH. I think that’s a non-starter for many Americans. Rubio and Paul are young and inexperienced. They will probably make those rookie mistakes that an old dog like Hillary can avoid.

I’m a devout atheist and I dislike Hillary for the same thing. The face that she didn’t dump Bill says nothing good about her – it rather screams “amoral political opportunist” as does her running for an NY Senate seat.

But I’ll vote for her unless the Republican offer someone shockingly fit for office, some mystery candidate who hasn’t even appeared in the stage yet.

  1. I don’t trust her character. Not so much due to all the partisan charges raised against her, but the way she responds to any charge from any source. She seems to roll her eyes as if to say “Look what horrible things they always say about me.”
    [/QUOTE]

Maybe the eye-rolling is her way of saying, “C’mon Republicans, put some effort into it. Hell, two decades ago, you were accusing me of having Vince Foster whacked. Now your big scandal is that I keep sloppy e-mail records.”

I don’t like it either. Sometimes it is so bad, I wonder if there is something wrong with her. Oh wait, bona fides: theoretically I will vote for any party, but over the last decade or so the pubbies have become so awful and borg-like that I just can’t vote for 'em. Maybe if they change…

I don’t know if I pick this up. I think she’s just a dodgy politician. Dontcha just want to strangle her sometimes?

Doncha just want to strangle her sometimes? I don’t know if it is her character though. She isn’t perfect, but what truly heinous crime has she committed? What public offense has she caused (aside from being a ‘liberal’ in the conservative imagination)?

I think she is a pro politician, which makes her both more and less trustworthy to me. She is a lawyer, a plus for a high-level government job in my eyes (law professor is good, too). She wants campaign finance reform- I’d like to see if the details of that are what I want or just a nice sounding few words, but ok, go on. It’d be foolish to suggest she lacks experience. She has 8 years’ White House experience, and Bill for an advisor.

Um, I don’t care that she stuck with Bill through his blowjob controversy. This is a professional political couple, why people expect them to behave like Mennonites or something is beyond me. I can’t see why people suggest she harbors some secret vice in her heart, aside from failing to put some fucking hot sauce on it already!

Saturday Night Live has captured her awkwardness pretty well. Being so successfully parodied is not a good thing for a politician. Ask Sarah Palin.
