It should be pointed out that if it’s 1/3 of all pregnant women, the majority of them wouldn’t even know it happened (given the combo of how many pregnancies end in miscarriages plus how many would not yet be aware of their pregnancy at an early date, the curve of disappearances would skew heavily to the early part of pregnancy), and the actual effective “public” figure would be much lower, like 1/6 of pregnancies or less.
