I dunno how this question popped into my head, but…
How would society be different, if we all wanted sex all the time, and were pretty much obsessed by sexual thoughts, for our entire lives? (Of couse, this is based on the fading memories of my own long ago adolescense.)
Would we ever have developed agrculture?
Animal husbandry? Ok, yes to that one…
Would women be more free, or would they be chained up by jealous men even more than they have been?
Would the world be a better place because of fewer frustrated men wandering about?
I’m not joking. Back then, everybody obsessed with sex all day long. Men couldn’t jack off (sin!) or have casual sex (sin, pregnancy, and social ruin). Every Sunday, the priest at the pulpit told you [del]not[/del] to obsess about sex, and have hot sweaty dreams about who, in your parish, might be accused of [del]having sweating hot monkey sex[/del] sinning and in what depraved way, with lots of details.
Ummm, I don’t think this is the case. While those were the theological rules of the day in much of Europe, I am hard-pressed to think that the majority of peasants obeyed them. Besides, forgiveness is free. Basically, a cite would be handy, as human nature IMO makes yours the more outrageous claim.
There’d be a large increase in cheating, unwanted children, abortions, political and celebrity sex scandals, STDs, raunchy media (TV/movies/commercials), an expanded pornographic industry, etc.
Marginally. If a woman wants to cure herself of horniness a man is not usually the most desirable option unless he’s already been heavily vetted. The sex toy industry would be worth hundreds of billions, possibly trillions, in this scenario.
The world before the introduction of widespread birth control would be even uglier. Imagine the cities.
