What if anything...

Can I do for a baby Squirrel that I have found on my lawn in it’s nest? the momma is very friendly with us but is not to be found this afternoon as it is dusk, windy and we have another storm on our hands here in florida.

Squirrels.org has a special page on the immediate needs of raising an orphaned squirrel.

Cheers,

I think it’s always best to let wild animals be. Often, their parents are out seeking food or doing other animal-survival things. Many wild animals won’t return to the nest if people are around, so it only appears that the babies have been abandoned.

We had that problem when the neighbor did major tree surgery. I put some nest-shreddies in a shoebox along with a plastic bottle full of hottish tap water (for warmth) and the little squirmer.

Wedged the box in the tree somewhat near where the branch was taken off, and a couple of hours later the baby squirrel was gone.

No doubt a blissful reunion occurred.
