And the prospect of arming everyone is reality??

I can’t believe how naive I am. I’ve participated in several gun debates, yet I thought this thread was just a hypothetical ‘what-if’ scenario, and not just another platform to claim that a gun on every hip is the path to some crime-free utopia. I can’t believe people seriously think that if the armed playing field were leveled, no one would find a way to un-level it again. Yes, even if the demand for security, crime, or a leg up for law enforcement didn’t supply new weapons and methods, crime would still go on. People with nothing to lose would pull their guns on people with something to lose. Not everyone with a job and a family would be up for a gun fight, Hollywood notwithstanding.

Yeah I know. Desperate crazy men will just throw up their hands in frustration, fear the little guy in the suit waiting for the bus, and become accountants. The word ‘crime’ would vanish from the language and we’ll all join hands and sing Kumbaya.

In any case, since this thread is winding down, I can only assume that no one can come up with examples of the parking lot massacres we’ve had resulting from millions of american legally carrying weapons… let alone anything statistically worrying.
