What if Trump fails to make America great again?

There are other threads about what damage Trump might do, or who the Democrats should run in 2020. I’m opening this thread more for speculation on what will happen politically if Trump’s presidency turns into a disaster. Will 2018 and 2020 be Democratic wave years, or will Democrats fail to come up with any reasonable plans to fix things?

Obviously I’m assuming that Trump will be a disaster, and if he’s not, then any speculation is useless, but I think there’s a good chance things are about to get worse.

It will somehow be the Democrats’ fault. The first rule of the Party of Personal Responsibility is that someone *else *is personally responsible.

Presidencies are never disasters.
Look at GW Bush’s term - run up the debt, start ill-concevied wars, increase terrorism world-wide.
Even then, his supporters think those were just minor issues.

Trump will be then same. He will make some bone-headed decisions, and piss some people off, but I think it unlikely that his term will be a “disaster.”

I liked Seth Myers comment last night “All of my predictions about Trump have been completely wrong. So if that holds true, Trump will probably be a great president.”.

Please describe for me the “Great America” Trump is supposed to achieve, so I’ll knows it when I sees it.

Politics is a disappointment factory. Every four years we listen to some smooth talker promising the world and then 2 years later the backlash begins after paradise fails to materialize. Clinton was great for the GOP, Bush was great for the Democrat party, Obama was great for the GOP. I’m sure Trump will be great for the Democrats. IT may be two years, four years, six years, or eight years but soon a charismatic outsider with a D after his name will swoop in to save us from the mess in Washington and the american public will become marks for him just like they did the last one.

I don’t think Trump was worth the cost, even if he as supposedly good for the Democrats. This cost was too high, and too much damage will be done.

By historical standards Bush wasn’t a disaster. He wasn’t great, and had some bad things happen which you mentioned, but he wasn’t a disaster. I think the only real disasters we’ve had were Buchanan and Andrew Johnson. Bush wasn’t nearly as bad as they were. I would compare W more to someone like Herbert Hoover or Warren Harding, bad but not terrible. I’m genuinely fearful that Trump will be probably be even worse than Andrew Johnson, maybe even as bad as Buchanan  If he’s that bad, I think things would get really ugly really quick.

I think Trump’s presidency will be a disaster, and I think the Democratic Party will fail to capitalize on it. The Democratic Party is now, and has been for sometime, a lackluster, unfocused group with nothing and no one to unify the party. They need to find that someone or something before November 2018 and I have no confidence they will.

Aye; this is how I see it as well. It will somehow be Obama’s fault or Democrats fault or the bleeding heart liberals fault or the fault of gays, Mexicans, terrorists, internet cat videos, etc.

He will be labeled a rino and his fans will blame the Democrats.
