You mean another attempt?
“If” he does it? He already has.
Indeed. Trump has said that if he loses Pennsylvania, then this will be proof, PROOF!! that the election was rigged. Pennsylvania was last won by Republicans in 1988 by less than 3%, and Clinton is currently leading in polls there by 10 - 11%.
Either Trump is delusional and does not understand math, or he is setting things up to give him an excuse when he loses.
Actually, it’s both.
See, the pollsters are asking people, “How many times do you intend to vote this Election Day?” So when people from those “certain areas” say five or eight or ten, that’s how many times they’re added into the poll. I mean, connect the dot!
It’s nothing new. According to Republicans they’ve never lost a fair election. Once again Trump is just saying what the Republican base says all the time, he’s just not doing it only when he thinks no one that care that it’s wrong is listening.
Basically, Trump sort of , kind of knows what a Republican politician is supposed to say. Trouble is, he is completely unable to do it with any subtlety at all. This is because he’s playing a role (conservative) that he is not used to. He’s trying to BS his way through this. As a result, he says stuff that he THINKS his Republican base wants to hear.
- Women who have sex and get pregnant should be punished
- All Muslims are unAmerican and should be watched
- Mexicans and Latinos are all the same (even if they were born here) and should be thrown out of the country
- Liberals are evil, and want to destroy the country
- Guns are wonderful, and should be used to threaten people to get your way.
And these electors are selected by the parties, and are commonly long-term, committed party workers. So they will follow the directions of their party national committee (many of them are on the national committee). Thus if, for example, Trump died/got real sick/resigned before the election:
- the RNC would choose a replacement.
- Lots of news media would talk about the new candidate.
- Many ballots would already have been printed with Trump’s name.
- People would vote for ‘Trump’ on the ballots.
- If ‘Trump’ wins a state, the Republican electors would be chosen.
- On Dec 23, those electors meet and cast their votes for the new candidate chosen by the RNC.
A more interesting scenario is if Trump were to win the election, but the RNC hated him enough. so they contacted the 270+ Republican electors, and told them to vote for some other Republican. The electors do that, Trump is left out in the cold, and some other Republican is elected President.
Trump could then claim that the system was rigged and the election stolen from him, with some legitimacy. It’s very unlikely, but don’t see any legal reason why this couldn’t happen.
If you go to any news release about the polls indicating Trump will lose, if you go down and read the comments there will be 100s of people stating over and over again “the mainstream media is all liars” “the election is rigged” “rigged” “rigged” and they will site all their dubious evidence it is rigged in great detail. If anyone argues otherwise their stupidity and believing the news is the problem of what is wrong with the country. So, too late to worry that the country will be destabilized if people believe elections are rigged.
