What is a career that travels regularly?

Well, my area of success is in software development. But the area of success for the young lady in question - well, that’s kinda what I’m trying to figure out.

I suppose I shoulda told the story, but it is long and I never read long threads, so I figure no one else would either…

Saturday night I was eating dinner alone at a restaurant that I frequent. It being XMas, the restaurant was crowded. The hostess, who knows me well, asked if I minded if a young lady were to join me for dinner, since they had no free tables. I didn’t mind and thus the night began. The young lady was nice, funny and seemingly successful (she paid for both dinners, claiming that she could write it off, and after all, I was kind enough to let her join me.) However, for some reason she refused to tell me what she did for a living, but instead wanted me to guess. The only clues that she would give me is:

  1. It is not illegal
  2. She travels a lot
  3. She is rather successful
  4. It would probably be considered “white collar.”

All of my guess were incorrect, so I turned to the teeming millions to suggest some things.

We plan to meet again tuesday night for dinner and I had hoped to have some good guesses.

It seemed somewhat odd to me, but perhaps if I figure it out, I’ll know why she was having so much fun with it.

Location scout? That’s someone who travels around finding perfect locations for scenes in movies (and TV, too, I guess).

Potentially, based on #4:

Quality assurance for a manufacturing company (related to auditing, but not the same thing):

Traveling nurse - I had a friend who looked into this as a possible change. You’re on the road for three weeks working and home for three weeks, IIRC.

Beyond that, I don’t think I have any more guesses, but if you get it, please tell us what it is!

Basketball player?

Along the auditing lines, there are people, usually nurses and therefore usually female, working for pharmaceutical companies or subcontracted by them who travel to hospitals where studies are being done in order to check drug supplies, monitor the study records, enrollment, etc. Lots of smart young women doing that. Loads of travel. They’re usually called monitors. She could also be a drug rep (in essence a pharmaceutical salesperson).
