What is Bob the Builder made of?

My kids have a few Bob the Builder books and I was wondering what they use to make the models. Is it clay? Plastic? Earwax?

I think it’s plasticine.

I thought it looked like foam latex on a wire frame.

Thanks a lot! I had to look up plasticine to find out that it is Play-Doh - and that explains “Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds” a little bit too. So I guess I learned three things today…
