What is "Boz" (as in Scaggs) short for, if anything?

True dat. Worth noting that that info was not in his wiki when this question was first asked.

What was irrelevant, in my opinion, referring to the drive-by bump, was that he popped in to say that he knew someone named “Borris,” whose nickname was “Boz.” And, even said, apparently without reading the previous responses:

This probs isnt true in Boz Scaggs case, but I thought people might be intrigued anyways.

So, he bumped it to let us that he has a friend named Borris, nicknamed “Boz.” Well, thanks for that information.

The thing is, if Boz is short for Bosley, it should be pronounced “bahz”. But during the Lido Shuffle days, I distinctly remember DJ’s saying it as “boss”. In fact, until I saw the name in print, I assumed it was “Boss”, as in Boss Hogg and Boss Tweed and that other rocker from New Jersey.

Of course, DJ’s can be wrong. I’m not sure what if anything Mr. Scaggs has said about pronunciation.

I’ve gone all my life without even wondering what the correct pronunciation of that would be. In my head it’s just ‘dyer maker’. Enlighten me.
