Another, less dramatic possibility is that you’d be working chutes, which is more a matter of aiming the critters the right way and prodding them along with a chunk of broomstick pressed against their rumps while you go “ZZZZTT!” - the animals are probably so well conditioned to things that they think the “ZZZZT!” is a cattle prod.

Let me start by giving some background:

The animal was large…with horns. Loosing an eye was a possibility.

The animal was large.

I am in shape, but in shape as in running shape. 155 lbs, 5’11’’. I am not large.

The animal was large.

So I jump in the chute and wrap my arms around the animal. The say ‘are you ready’, I said ‘no’. The chute opens and this thing drags me a few feet. All strategy goes out the window. I grab the horns with one hand, the nose with another, get dragged some more. I dig my heels in and twist and pull back. Large animal falls 7.5 seconds after leaving the chute.

Shirt was ruined, whole body is sore, but…

The most exciting few seconds of my life! Shoulda been a cowboy, shoulda learned to rope and ride…

This has to win some sort of prize in the “needs answer fast” category. 44 minutes from “what am I doing?” to “that’s what I did.”
