I mean, what is the reason for straight men finding women’s breasts sexually attractive? I was thinking about this, for some reason or another, and I couldn’t see any reason. I know that the breasts can be a source of sexual pleasure for a women, but so can many other parts of the body. Is there a good reason for why a nice rack acts like an eye magnet for most men?
I know men appreciate other parts of the female form, but it seems to me that throughout history the breasts have had more than their fair share of sexual fascination.
By the way, I am a guy, and although I do appreciate breasts, I equally appreciate the whole package (bottom, legs, etc… yes in that order)
I was going to put that in my OP, Crafter_Man! That could be part of the reason. I know that they can be a lot more tantalising when they’re behind clothing than when they’re just bare… seems kind of strange…
Dunno. I’m a sexy sharp-corners eye man myself. After that it’s the assman. As long as you have a pair of hooters 'tis all I care. Big or small they’re kinda useless to me.
Doh! That’s part of what brought me to be the assman. Back in Jr/Sr highschool, you couldn’t sit and stare at a rack but you could watch an ass all hour long…mmmm geography lessons sitting behind Janelle.
I think because large breasts are symbols of fertility. Also most men like to play with them so maybe it has something to do with their inner child. I just hate when men address mine in a conversative. You know, not looking me in the eye. (I am a 38DD, so they cause unneeded hoopla)
Not hard-wired – there are just too many counterexamples (e.g., Chinese foot binding, the distended necks and plates on female lips used in some African tribes, the attraction to legs in 30s America, the emphasis on the ankle in Victorian times, the emphasis on the hips in classic art, etc.).
It’s cultural conditioning. We’re used to images of women’s breasts that indicate it’s a sign of sexual availability. Our current society is very conscious of that; women who are considered sexy usually dress to emphasize their breasts. Men see this from before puberty and grow used to the idea.
Sooner or later, fashions in female sexuality will change and something else will be the marker of sexuality. The current emphasis on the belly and abs in ads may be the way we go next.
Most of the few times I watched porn in my past, I became desensitized to breasts and their friend, the areola/nipple. I was like, i’ve seen 2 dozen, i’ve seen them all. And I was right.
Now that it’s been years since i’ve seen bare breasts, they are applealing again. Yet, before the porn, i was a Hair and Face guy.
RealityChuck, I think cultural conditioning is certainly a factor. And, just in American society in the past 100 years, emphasis has been shifted, perhaps driven largely by the fashion industry, to various parts and various shapes of women’s anatomy (bustles, barrel-chests, flapper-thin, wasp-waists, etc.).
But breasts are unquestionably secondary sexual characteristics, which cannot be said of feet (chinese foot binding), ankles and I question lip rings. It seems entirely logical that evolution has selected primary and secondary sexual characteristics as attraction-magnets to ensure the continuation of the species. From an evolutionary perspective, there does not have to be any more logical reason other than “men who like breasts reproduce and begat more men who like them, too.”
Personally, I find breasts attractive on women, even more so if the woman is sexually aroused by their manipulation and stimulation. Then we both win.
I had heard/read somewhere, don’t remember where exactly that it has to do with how you were comforted by your mother when you were little.
If she held you to her chest- chest man
If you clung to her legs when upset, leg man
If you were shy or I guess she was too busy to pick you up and you hid behind her, ass man.
With my husband, I can see how it would fit. He was the youngest of six and very shy. I would figure he would hide behind my MIL and she was too busy doing other stuff to pick him up. He is a card carrying ass man.
Strangely I’m more attracted to a face then anything else (yes I know that sounds like PC crap but it’s true)
However I love looking at breasts. Big ones. Small ones. Meduim ones. They’re all good. But I dont’ put more importance on them they say a nice ass or good legs.
Women have much larger breasts than necessary in nature. They serve to attract the male just like any other visual que.
I never understood the “bigger is better” mentality of my fellow man. Gimme a trim figure any day. Winnona Ryder and Joey Heatherton being the exceptions. When I was a young-un I didn’t know what a Serta was but I new I wanted one.
I personally just think that they look nice. It’s like art or music, where certain things just attract people. It’s like asking ‘why do guys like sports?’ some don’t some do… most do.
Was this really how it went? When I was in 4th or 5th grade, I heard this exchange as:
Elaine: I thought you were a lesbian.
Jerry: Why would I be a lesbian? I don’t need legs. I have legs.
For at least a couple of months I thought lesbians were people without legs. Not surprisingly, I learned what lesbians really were at school. Such is how things go.
As for the issue in the OP, I believe this was addressed by a study or some kind of scientific research (or maybe just theories) or somesuch a few years ago…supposedly, big breasts == healthy woman == Better Babies == desire to sex women with big breasts. “Ass men”/“leg men”/etc probably cast these thoughts toward the ass, or the legs, or whatever; “nice legs/face/ass/hair/eyes -> better genes -> better babies -> i should sex her”. Primitive biological thing.
There’s probably a significant societal influence, too, as has been said here. It probably also helps that womens’ breasts are basically sex organs, in that they provide sexual pleasure, more so than many other parts of their bodies.
Lord Ashtar may have been implying what I’m about to say by utilizing that Seinfeld quote, so I apologize in advance if you think I’m re-stating something that’s already been said.
I think the fascination, such as it is, is at least partly due to the fact that we don’t have them, lol
