What is London like in March?

And don’t forget to stop dead just inside the tube station while you fumble with closing the umberella.

A useful alternative map is this, which shows stations that are within walking distance of one another (and in a few cases, even within sight of one another). Also, travelcards are valid on buses, often quicker for short journies than trekking into the bowels of the underground to reach the trains.

And if you want to have fun confusing people, let them use this (PDF) map

Where the hell would they put all them stations, especially in the Shoreditch area?
Can’t see it happening in 12 years that.

Anyway, yeah, what Gorillaman said. Especially if you’re in the West End - everywheres no more than 5 minutes walk away from everywhere else. I was there last night!

If you mean the north East London line extension, it’s mainly on disused track:

(Work started three years ago, and it’s projected to be finished by 2010. It’s part of the transport improvements within the Olympic bid.)

Well we’ve walked past the site of the Hoxton one before when we’ve been out on the piss!

And stand on the left on the escalators.

I’m not one to talk about this really though. One what was probably my first independent visit to London, I did the same thing. I had to be told not to.

No why on earth might people not remember that? :stuck_out_tongue:

And i got to be the one to tell you!

Indeed. And now I rant like a true Londoner about stupid tourists on the tube.

Did I walk past it on Sunday? I R Unobservant.

They still can’t put a decent lin k to Homerton where I go regular though can they? boo! And yes, I know theres an overground to it, but its still a pain in the arse.

Ah, the curse of the marshes - the soft ground’s the reason the Central Line went up to Bethnal Green instead. I have to say I’m surprised the proposed trams don’t help sort out the Hackney conundrum.

You probably did.

Interestingly, according to that 2016 map they’re looking at reopening some of the old ghost stations.

Also, it looks like Peckham is the place to buy property if you’re looking to make a killing…

:smack: I meant the DLR extension through Stratford, not the trams.

I can’t actually find any, other than the Hoxton area. Although I’m not sure if some of the trams are on disused routes - as is the Watford Metropolitan extension, but with new stations. Some of the names of ghost stations are being revived, such as Aldwych, but for tram stops.

Pop Trivia: The guitar I play in my band was the exact one Steve Froggart used to record “Kayleigh” - you see it on the video and their TV appearances from around then. My mate from Oswestry (where Steve now runs a restaurant) bought it off him and sold it to me.

Ah - i was counting Aldwych as one too - didn’t realise it was a tram stop.

Aldwych is still making them money, mind you - the ticket office is fully preserved for filming period dramas, and the tunnel’s been used too, mainly for music videos, Firestarter being the one I can remember.

Right, then. Here it is: http://www.lonlentz.com/gallery/albums.php

I’ve got that Starfury disused/history of the underground website bookmarked somewhere. I’d like to go on that tour at some point.

And Hypno-Toad, everytime I see your name I get the BBBBBBBZZZZZZZZZ noise in my head. Heh heh.

Just had a thought. When in March are you planning to come? The reason I ask is that Easter is very early next year with Good Friday 0n the 25th. and Easter Monday 0n the 28th. Both of these are public holidays in the UK and so some shops and other attractions might be shut. Also this might affect the price of air-fares and hotel rooms.

Great pics, Hypno, and lots of 'em. Just what I was hoping for. Thanks.
