What is one name....

Veikko. A kid with a name like that is destined to be really ace.

Dolph
Tycho
Rheinhardt
Ignacious
Ebuchannezzer
Ishkabibble

I threaten my mother to inflict these on her future grandchildren, but she says it doesn’t matter since the mom signs the paperwork.

But I’d still name my kid “Tycho” if I could get away with it.

I beg you, don’t do it ! Take it from someone who knows, that name rhymes with too many words that shouldn’t be flung at another kid in the playground !

Yeah, but remind dear old Mom that only YOU can complete the picture, by blackmailing your wife/ the aforementioned “mom” into naming the kid Tycho. You then get to legally change YOUR name to " Stahhr".

Can you imagine?? :stuck_out_tongue:

If I had twin boys I would want to name them Romulus and Remus. What the hell, I’d do it even if the twins were girls.
I love “Tycho”, and I actually knew a guy named “Thor”. He thought he was hot stuff.

If I ever have a daughter: Buttercup.

If I ever have a son: Dread Pirate Roberts or maybe Poindexter.

Hm.

Cassandra.

Dolores.

Moon, Mona, or Luna.

Sun.

I love the name Tomasso…
I spend to much time reading about Renaissance painters…either that or I like turtles too much

Michelangelo
Donatello ( yes I know he was a sculptor)
Raphael
Dante
My son is named Josiah. More than once nurses have looked at that named and asked “What are we seeing
her? for?”

He goes by Siah…

I used to do the same thing as brahesilver. When i got mad at my mom i would say … ’ alright mom thats it, I’m gonna marry a rude biker and name my first child Adelaide. Even if its a boy!"

Needless to say, That never happened

Krisfer, Did you get your names from the , Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
No offense but thats what they were named. I feel like such a nerd just knowing that

I’ve always thought the name Chick would be cool for a boy, but everyone I mention it to (most notably my girlfriend) thinks I’m crazy.
I also like the name Happy.
Happy

Sorry Labbie, I already made that joke.

The turtles were named for the Renaissance artists that their sensei admired. Note that is real people…

I do love Italian names…maybe I have been studying renaissance art to much lately:)

I have a tendency to skim posts, its proof of how comepletely rude i am. I apologize

I like the name “Indigo” for a boy or a girl (thanks, Mirrored Indigo Shadows); I like Indiana, too (for a girl, though). One of my other noms de pixel is Lothlaurien - I love the romance and fantasy of that name. I also like last names used as first names for boys - Bergen, Miller, Matheson, etc. (but not over-used ones like Jordan or Brady). The only names I really hate and would never use are the current top ten ones for any given year - why would anyone name their kid the same name that five other little girls/boys in their class have?
“You’re all individuals.”
“Yes, we’re all individuals.”
“You must think for yourselves.”
“Yes, we must think for ourselves!”

Would you believe that I was almost named that?

My dad really wanted to name me Merlin or Thor. Thor I wouldn’t be so happy with, but Merlin would be pretty cool.

Fortunately, my mom managed to talk some sense into him.

My wife would never me use any of these in a million years, but I have a list of names of names that I would love to use.

For a boy

Telemachus
Telemaque
Andrea

For a girl,

Lucretzia
Antonietta

My younger brother’s name is Chick. Actually, it’s Frank, but he’s never been called anything but Chick. He’s named after my grandfather, also Frank, also called Chick. The scoop on the nickname is that Frank, in Italian, is Francisco, the common nickname in Italy would be Cheech, the closest English equivalent would be Chick. My aunt Francine is known as Chickie.

FWIW, as a child he HATED the nickname - it lent itself to waaaay too many jokes – but now, as an adult, he prefers Chick because it’s somewhat unusual and therefore memorable, and when my daughter was born he decided that “Uncle Frank” just sounded to him like an old drunk

For a boy: Damian (means demon) and Riyad (meaning Gardens)

For a girl: Mara (sorrowing), Kalika (flower bud), Amara (everlasting or bitter, the meaning is disputed)

I’m seriously considering if I ever have a girl to name her Mara Kalika… we’ll see what my last name is when I do that though.

Sounds a little bit too much like “melakalikimaka” which is Merry Christmas in Hawaiian, I think. (My spelling’s probably not right, but thayt’s what it sounds like to me.)

Really? Interesting…
