First a short rant: That old saying that “there is no such thing as a stupid question” must be bull. When I ask my teachers questions like this, instead of an answer I get “why don’t you stop being lazy and look it up and then tell the entire class what it is.” I don’t want to look it up. That’s why I asked you, jackass! When I ask my 'rents these questions I get 'why don’t you know these things? what are we paying that school for?"
So, hoping you people are a bit kinder, could you please tell me what it means when a business is “in receivership”.
Because of what my shit head teacher said to me, I absolutely refuse to look it up! After all, anyone who takes a job that gives all weekends, holidays, and the entire summer off, hardly has the right to call anyone lazy!!
“Receivership” is a state-specific legal tool that a creditor (or in some cases, the state government) can use to protect or marshall the assets of a debtor. It means different things in different states, but generally, a court can appoint an independent third-party “receiver” to take over the accounts of a business or other entity when presented with evidence that assets are being squandered, mismanaged, or concealed.
The teachers who taught me in your hometown (and mine way back when), as well as teachers I know today work for nine months and receive nine month salaries s p r e a d over 12 months in order to live.
Maybe that’s why so many of them take other jobs during the summer …
My rant was really only supposed to be directed towards that one teacher, not all. Anytime anyone asks him anything, he never gives an answer, but tells you to “look it up”. He gives no lectures, and about 90% of his class consists of us reading the text book. I don’t think he knows how to teach. In fact, I don’t think he is a teacher. I think he’s posing as a teacher while he’s hiding from the mob or something.
you’re not there. Here is a typical day in his class:
He takes attendance, then tells us to read chapter so-and so in the text. That’s it. No lecture, no nothing. We don’t even discuss the text. He just sits there and reads, usually the news paper, during the entire hour. This is what happens 9 out of 10 days in his class. How does that make this guy a good teacher? He does no more actual teaching than the study hall monitor does. All the kids are frustrated by him because then he gives us tests that have a bunch of questions that weren’t touched upon in the text book. that bugs the hell out of us. He’s a geek. A real quiet, strange little man.
