If “g” typically indicates “grams” how is “gauge” typically abbreviated?
“that is a 25 ____ thingie”

I’ve always used ‘ga’. As in ‘Use 22ga wire here’.
Do we know if that’s official, though? It’s going on the product insert sheet in the packaging of one of our products…
UNC seems to think ‘ga’ is the right abbreviation, too.
I’ve always seen it written as “ga” when it comes to piercings too.
Isn’t AWG also used when talking about wire.
AWG is a spec for the gauge of electrical wires.
We’re not talking about wire, though, so that wouldn’t work.
Thanks guys!!!
As I work in engineering, an avid hunter and being a drafter (we get all kinds of bizarre abbrvs.) the correct abbreviation is “ga” for both instances.
A 12 ga. shotgun suspended by 14 ga. wires.
My question is this; 123 State Street can be abbreviated 123 St St. right?
