What is the attitude of other Arab states toward Iraqi democracy?

The others are all authoritarian regimes of one kind or another, and so can’t be all that enthusiastic demorcacy taking root in their midst. But most probably aren’t too keen on a Shiite-dominated Islamic theocracy, and a civil war or protracted instability cannot possibly be desirable.

To what degree have any of Iraqs neighbors offered assistance of any kind? I can imagine the presence of the US may be a bit off-putting.

I visited Jordan last month, and despite very strong feelings against the war, nearly everyone I spoke to was quite supportive of a post-occupation Iraq. There seemed to be a rough consensus that Jordan should help Iraqis as much as possible to set the stage for an American withdrawal, but Jordan is not a wealthy country, so its contributions are pretty limited.

I can’t speak for other Arab countries.
