What is the average age of those who have died from Covid-19?

Over 320,000 Americans have died from Covid-19. Does anyone know the average age of this cohort (with cite)?

Based on the data here which are pretty up to date (12/19) for deaths in the U.S. I get the mean age to be about 75, median around 78.

That’s interesting. It prompted me to look up the figures for Australia and, for a much smaller number of deaths, it is much the same. Only 20 people under 60 have died, and 15 of them were over 50. The over 70s account for 94% of the deaths.

And how, does anybody know, does that compare with the corresponding figure for deaths from all causes?

It’s on the data in Riemann’s link. Very interesting for the younger age groups. Only 467 deaths by COVID under 24 out of about 54,000 total deaths.
