what is the best small town festival ?

Hey!!! I have been to Tater Day

Benton is right near Fairdealing, KY. We used to go fishin down that way.

In western MI, we have the National Baby Food Festival. It is held every July in Freemont, MI, pop 4,224.

It is actually not that bad, but I am pretty sure it was listed as the Reader’s Digest #1 festival to avoid. Which of course brought more people this year.

Urbanna Oyster Festival (at least til it got a little out of hand). Oysters and crabs, fresh out of the Bay, served anyway you want. Plus, lots and lots to drink.

Within a 15 mile radius of my home, I can attend the following:

Circleville Pumpkin Show
Millersport Sweetcorn Festival
The Tomato festival
Lancaster Festival (biggest in Ohio)
Baltimore Festival
Jamboree in the Hills (Can you say Moonshine?)

The Richwood West Virginia Ramp Festival. (Ramps are a stinky wild onion)

http://richwooders.com/ramp/ramps.htm

“A few of our city folks attended Feast of the Ramson and had a very stinky weekend. Our friends who had never had ramps before were good sports about trying them. Can’t say all will eat them again, but they are already planning a trip back in the near future…”

The Preston County West Virginia Buckwheat Festival.

http://www.prestoncounty.com/pcbf.htm

"From the Kingwood VFD Community Building kitchens, all-you-can-eat Buckwheat Cake Dinners are served with Preston County produced whole hog sausage (two patties come with the dinner, but extra patties may be purchased), margarine, syrup, applesauce, and a choice of beverage. "

You are in luck!
A friend of mine is actually flying from NYC to Mendota, Illinois for this weekend’s Sweet Corn Festival.

Check out the photo. That says it all!

I’ll be participating in the Albia Iowa Restoration Days Art Festival in two weeks, Aug. 23. Come and see.
Also, Ccwaterback, I think they should have called that either the Turkey Testival, or the Turkey Festicle.
