I think four of those were already named previously, although the Roberta Flack entry is new and welcome. If I understand the thread rules correctly, this means you get another four.
I’m still unclear about the rules concerning articles. Should songs starting with “a/an” or “the” go into the ‘A’ and ‘T’ threads? Or are articles to be ignored and the letter of the second word count? In this case, I would’ve nominated “A Forest” by the Cure.
Fine. I won’t post in this thread again.
But Jeez, don’t you guys have any sense of humor or perspective? I wasn’t making any ad-hominem attacks, wasn’t introducing any offensive topics, just expressing an opinion. And in my followup post, I was trying to be rather apologetic in what was supposed to be a lighthearted manner.
If you want to continue this, move it to the pit.
You still have 4 entries left, Jeff_Lichtman - The only one in your post that has not been nominated, as mentioned (and including the Sinatra), is the Roberta Flack song.
You can nominate a song with an article, but discard the article when considering it for a certain letter.
IOW, in the F thread, you can nominate “A Foggy Day (in London Town)” (Hey, there’s our Sinatra right there!) or “The First Noel” (the Sinatra version, of course).
mmm
Way too late to edit, but could I possibly swap out Fireball for Fig Tree Bay by Peter Frampton? (Can’t believe I didn’t think of it, one of my absolute favorites!)
Done.
Now I have to go listen to Fig Tree Bay, I’m not familiar with it.
mmm
And that’ll be a Warning for disregarding moderator instructions. “Stay out of this thread” doesn’t mean “Come back to this thread to say you’re staying out of it”, and it definitely doesn’t mean “Come back to this thread to dispute the moderation”.
Only room for 7 more entries, folks.
mmm
How about “Fascination Street,” by the Cure? One of my favorite songs by them.
Coincidentally, another of my favorite songs by them is “A Forest,” so I’ll throw that in as well. (edit: already nominated, so never mind!)
I’m too old, and like most of the other posters can’t think of any songs to nominate that were written in the current millennium. We gotta get some fans of current music in here, y’all.
Fields of Gold - Sting
For Once in My Life - Stevie Wonder
Free Man in Paris - Joni Mitchell
From This Moment On - Lena Horne
One more.
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
mmm
Free As A Bird - The Beatles
Already submitted. Still need one more.
mmm
Got one: Freak Scene - Dinosaur Jr.
OOoooooooo! Good one!
And…that’s a wrap.
Polls will appear some time today.
mmm
Oh man. I was gonna throw out Formation, by Beyonce, so we’d have at least one pop song from the past decade. (also Rolling Stone’s #4 song of the decade).
Just too late!
Bloody typical…
Just as i thought of my last 2 :-
Freddie Freeloader - Miles Davis
the Fountain of Salmacis - Genesis
Ah, Godammit, we could have had For Absent Friends. Which, for those who don’t know, is side 1 track 2, whereas
is side 2 track 4.
