What is the best way to manage podcasts without using iTunes...

So, I officially can’t stand iTunes, BUT I got a great little iPod shuffle as a gift (the reason I started using iTunes) and I’m addicted to podcasts and iTunes U. Is there any way to easily search for, manage and subscribe to podcasts/iTunes U without using iTunes?

I’ve tried using live bookmarks on Firefox to keep up with the podcasts, but I’ve found that I can’t actually put my podcasts onto my Shuffle without using iTunes.

I’ve tried Miro and Songbird and didn’t particularly like them, but I could give them another look if there are folks who think they’re worth it.

If you want the podcasts on your shuffle, you have to use iTunes.

If they are in mp3 format and you download them yourself, you should be able to use Sharepod to put stuff on your shuffle. You do have to have iTunes installed for Sharepod to work, but it’s a much better program to move stuff off and on your Shuffle.
