Saying that Mario is a whiner is no indication of his ability or his work ethic.

Give them some credit. Two headshots of the Lemieuxs taped up behind the fridge will keep mice and cockroaches scared and out of your house for years.
I suppose hockey nut. I just wish they weren’t so revered
As for mayberrydan
maybe this year, but last years Detroit-Colorado conference finals is easily the most exciting, best hockey that I have seen in years. Especially the Statue of Liberty gaffe
I have the Stanley Cup DVD and there’s a funny shot of a fan after that “save”. As soon as Roy comes up with the empty glove and it gets poked in, you see this idiot fan frantically waving his arms like “That’s no goal!”. Why he thought that, I don’t know. Avalanche fans are notorious for being stupid when it comes to hockey. They chant “Red Wings Suck” when they aren’t even playing the Wings.
easy, let’s not start in on fans. I saw a wings fan at a hockey game holding up a sign that said “I LOVE HOCKY.” And the best part of that was after Shanny poked it in, Roy turned around to protest, realised he had no chance, and visibly sagged. That cracked me up.
And the dumbest fan I’ve ever seen was a couple of years ago at a Toronto-Philly game. Tie Domi was in the box and this tubby flyers fan was leaning on the glass to yell at him. The glass gives, dumping fatty into the box. What does he do? He takes a swing at Domi. Needless to say, he got a couple of swats for being an idiot and hauled out.:smack:
Well… I admit that I know nothing about hockey. But, Lemieuxseses I know only too well.
Believe me, everything is a big deal. You should hear my grandma gripe about the neighbors, or the weather, or …
** Harborwolf **, while I agree with you on Claude Lemieux being a Grade “A” jack-ass, but I don’t understand why you are taking pot-shots at Mario.
First, he’s one of the greatest players ever to lace’em up. He’s fought through cancer and chronic back problems, and still dominates the league. If anyone has earned the right to bitch and moan about the league, he has.
Goalie equipment is too big and cheap shots from no-talent-minor-league goons is tainting hockey. Too many teams leads to diluted talent pools that allow guys who would normally be fighting for a spot on a minor pro team, to play in the bigs.
Maybe you should look at some of the genuine idiots of the NHL:
Anyway, I don’t want to hi-jack your thread, but I think attacking Mario is out of order…
This I’ll agree with you on. Ideally they’d rank the teams 1 through 16 and have playoffs that way but I doubt that would ever happen.
You forgot one.
*Bill Guerin : signed to a big contract with Dallas. Two handed chops teammate over the head with stick. Then crosschecks same teammate as he tries to get up. All of this in a frickin’ scrimmage.
Also you should include Michael Peca. Felt bad for him after the Tucker hit in the playoffs. Then he goes out and does nearly the same thing to someone else. Can’t remember the specific incident though.
still think Mario whines, but anger is gone so I will let it go
Yeah, I forgot about Guerin (and probably a dozen others)…the dirty bastards!
It’s very unlikely Ottawa will move. The NHL is putting heavy pressure on everyone involved to keep the team there, and apparently there’s another Ottawa suitor if the current ownership can’t make an acceptable bid. Ottawa actually makes an operating margin; the problem there is the debt that was incurred to start up the franchise. There’s no better hockey market available.
Buffalo, however, looks doomed. But nobody knows where they’ll go; Portland is one possibility, Hamilton another, Houston another.
I take it that Claude is Mario’s brother?
nope, not related. they just have the same last name and have been in the hockey news lately
IMHO, Mario is quite right. I used to follow hockey. I don’t any more, for exactly the reasons the man describes.
Claude…I dunno. I don’t follow the sport any more, remember?
I don’t think anyone can question Mario’s toughness. I don’t see his issues with the current state of the game as “whining,” I think he just wants a faster, more wide open, skating style of play. The clutching and holding is boring to watch. That’s not to say that we should get rid of a good clean checking game, but we should get rid of all the hugging and hooking.
As for Claude…well…he’s Claude.
Hey now, I think we’ll all admit that that the hugging is a beautiful and moving display.
Yeah, Mario…put your money where your mouth is, baby!
must have read my thread and decided to try and prove me wrong:cool:
from what I saw though, didn’t look like much of a fight to me
and no, nothing mario does is good enough for me.
