Have researchers discovered how DNA times itself? Take the matter of a developing human fetus…at various times, different genes (governing the growth of bones, teeth, etc.) have to be turned on, so that the fetus will develop normally. Is this “clock” contained in the DNA itself? Or is it some kind of external chemical reaction, that drives the DNA to express the right genes at the right time?
I’d like to know more about this…anyone have a good book about this?
And take the changes that result from human ageing…like the common phenomenon (in human males) for the hair follicules on the head to shut down (male pattern baldness)…is such a thing the result of ageing itself, or is this shut-down preprogrammed by a gene?
