voted other, it’s a dark grey with a strong but subtle bluish tint to it. On the title and carfax it claims the car is “______ Green” (some sort of two word named paint Jeep calls green). I suppose it could be green, technically, but nah, its bluish grey.
Burgundy. I named it Ron.
My mother-in-law had a Subaru that was ambiguous like that. Depending on the light, it could look to be a shade of green, blue, or gray.
The weirdest was the first (and only time) I’ve seen one of those cars with a custom paint job that, depending on the angle you looked at it from, could be two completely different colors. I don’t remember the exact colors, but one day I found myself behind, say, a blue car and as it turned left, it turned into a red car. It really threw me for a loop.
Daytona Grey Pearl. Basically sparkly grey.
By sight, white. Officially, Fresh Powder.
It varies depending on the light and viewing angle. Unfortunately, it generally falls in a range of blue-grey to golden brown dentist’s office hues.
By name, it’s Pepperdust Metallic.
I drive an Inferno Red Kia Toaster, err, Soul. My husband drives a white one. We each have a decal of a hungry Simon’s Cat on our fuel doors.
Living in a hot country I would never consider any other colour than white.
Mine is a dull grey. For my next car, I’m considering neon yellow or orange to make it more easily noticeable in poor visibility conditions.
My late father-in-law lived in South Florida; I did note just how prevalent white cars were in his area, likely for that very reason.
I have to admit I instantly judge people who drive black cars here - I immediately peg them as superficial people who are more concerned with looking badass than practicalities; and who are therefore not my kind of person.
I don’t know what Mazda calls it, but it’s a blue-gray color. The RV is white with some decal accent trim. My last car, a Prius, was dark blue.
I had a black 1998 Jeep Wrangler and a black 2006 Chrysler 300. I didn’t feel badass, I just thought they looked better than the other colors offered.
Well whether badass or “looked better”, same thing.
Where do you live though?
Hmm…no irony noted there in judging the black-car driver “superficial”? Seems a bit superficial to me to judge someone based on the color car they drive regardless of climate but, hey, that’s just me. (And, no, I’ve never owned a black car.)
Correct, no irony there. They have likely made a decision based on either ignorance about how hot black cars are, or based on a decision that how their car looks is more important to them than the impracticality of dealing with a car that will be an absolute oven if ever parked in the sun - as it inevitably will be at some time. This is not superficial reasoning.
Look my “judging” on this basis isn’t final - we actually have some friends who have a black car and they aren’t superficial people. But I find it’s a good indicator, much of the time.
Dark metallic gray. I used to own a bright red car (purchased out of a limited selection for reasons unrelated to color) - it was a painful stain on my soul for the five years I had it . I prefer dark, austere colors.
According to Subaru, it’s “wintergreen metallic/titanium.” I also have an older Subaru in “spruce pearl metallic,” a Dodge truck in “bonzai blue metallic” with a lot of “patina” and a Chevy van that’s very oxidized white. I tend to like my cars in blue and green.
That seems to more or less match what I see on the roads, particularly the dominance of white.
I’ve had cars in virtually every colour on the list except black, gray, and green, but oddly, I’ve never had one in white, either. And I think some cars look really sharp in white. In fact I was looking at some carmaker (it may have been more than one) that only offered white in a premium coated finish at extra cost. If I have a choice, my next car will be white. I don’t care if they’re common as dirt, I like it – but a creamy white, not glaring pure white.
My current car is silver. Also a very common colour around here.
I remember years ago when I was a kid, and when colour preferences in cars ran to the more showy and gaudy, reading about a new fancy sports car in a car magazine. The article mentioned how much attention their test car got, “despite being painted refrigerator white”. Even as a kid back then I thought, “You morons! It’s getting attention in part because it looks so sharp in white!”
I would love to paint my van in the Cadillac stock color “White Diamond” because that is a damned sharp color and the van could use it. The van is the only white vehicle I’ve owned and I’ve only had one black one–no grey ones at all and definitely no red. I hate grey cars, they disappear in the rain, very annoying.
“Scarlet Ember tintcoat” the sticker says. It is a darker red.
