Everybody needs some Friday fluff, right? So, yes, a thread about your car color. Because these are the kinds of threads that help fight ignorance and give us a deeper understanding of the world around us.
For the purposes of this poll, I’d ask you to please choose the color you believe most closely matches the primary EXTERIOR color of the vehicle you drive the most. I’m defining “vehicle” here as a car, truck, SUV, motorcycle, motorized trike, motorized scooter or any boat or airplane that has been modified to be legally driven on the roads where you live.
If you care to share more details about your vehicle, or your choice in color, or the fact that you said dark blue in the poll, but it’s actually called “Stormy Blue Mica,” feel free to post below. The poll will be up momentarily.
Prius: Black & tan. (Black on the outside, tan on the inside.)
Jeep Cherokee: ‘Deep amethyst’ (dark metallic purple), with a grey interior
MGB: Old English White, red interior
YZF-R1: Red, white, and black
XJ600: Blue
Cessna 172 Skyhawk: Still wishing, but I’d like this scheme. But really, who cares? As long as it flies.
I’ve got a dark blue Mazda CX-5 and a silver (although for reasons I will never understand after owning this car for nearly four years, it is always tan in my head) Nissan Sentra.
Johnny, are you planning on making the Cessna street legal? Or will you just horn your way onto the 5 and dare the coppers to do anything about it?
Part of my interest in this thread, by the way, stems from the fact that I recently spent two weeks doing a lot of shopping for a new car. And one of the first salespeople I met with pointed out to me that despite all of the varying colors available, the vast majority of people buy white or silver. Ever since that conversation, I have noticed that this seems to hold true, at least on LA’s streets and freeways. I’m wondering if that’ll be true in this thread, too.
Ours is tan (or beige or camel or sand, whatever). I would totally love a car in Stormy Blue Mica, but I always end up with whatever the dealership has in stock. Our last 3 cars have been tan, charcoal, and tan again.
My last six or seven cars have been black, and one of my motorcycles is black with red 70s-style pinstriping (which fits, it’s a 1978). The sportbike is gray, but I’m restoring it currently and it will likely be black when I’m done.
I picked the “silver” one. Don’t drive it as often, but put the most miles on it, if that makes sense.
This reminds me of a funny story: A buddy of mine had this old car that he really loved. One day, he got pulled over with me in the car and was INCENSED! when the cop wrote him a ticket, and put “rust” for “vehicle color”!
