Some tasers are “single shot”, some are two separate systems in one. Once fired, though, that’s it.
It’s been known for tasers to not penetrate even a t-shirt. They have to penetrate well enough to also penetrate the skin and stay in place.
I’m sure there are valid reasons for preferring the type of taser that fires probes, tho I’ve always thought the possibility of failure too likely.
My dtr’s fiance bought her a taser w/ the 2 fixed probes, that you bring into contact w/ the target. AND was willing to allow her to try it out on him (at a low setting.) The design impresses me as pretty reliable, and he says even at a low setting, it more than caught his attention. “Hurt like hell!” was, I think, a direct quote. 
Yes, I know. I’m saying, I want the info about these specific tasers and circumstances. I’m not wanting speculation.
So does everybody (I think). There’s a lot we know, and some things we don’t know. I definitely want to see the results of the investigation.
