What is the farthest you have driven in one day?

LA to Madison, WI. After 3 days, you start to hallucinate.

Mpls. to New Orleans, via Chicago. Torrential downpour near Carbonville. Look Ma, I’m skiing!

Chi to Manhatten to see “General Tales of Ordinary Madness”

Madison to Prince Rupert. Hail Canada! Madison to Mpls: 300 miles, 13 troopers. Mpls. to PR: 2000 miles, 1 cop that waved to us as we passed at 120 mph 100 miles outside of Moose Jaw.

Mpls to Madison to see Pink Floyd on my (ex) wife’s Virago. And back. I am still vibrating.

2400 miles, 50 hours, non stop, solo.

Only stopping for gas, food and washrooms, my longest solo continuous drive without rest was from Penticton BC to Sudbury ON, a bit under 50 hours straight, approximately 2500 miles, though I did not keep track too closely. I had a very important ski race in Penticton and had to make it back to teach a class in Sudbury two days following the race. Flying was not an option due to my being out there on a road trip between ski areas for the preceeding week. It was slow going until I made it out of the mountains, for I was towing my ski trailer behind a four banger, but I had a tail wind across the prairies. Unfortunately, the heater kicked out in Winnipeg, and I was driving a rag top, so I darn near froze travelling through the night north west of Thunder Bay, despite my wearing my ski togs and huddling under my winter bag.
