Conservatism and progressivism don’t exist as distinct political philosophies. They are both forms of majoritarianism. Republicans and Democrats have their differences but they agree on the basic structure.

That is widely variable from one country to another, and even from one US state to another, where there is wide variation in trespassing laws. Texas and Florida have draconian trespassing laws, where it is a serious criminal offense to do what is widely tolerated in some other states.
In China, I have often walked leisurely in the countryside without so much has rolled eyes from people I encountered along the way, who were either working the firlds, or simply passing through. When I lived in a rural house in Bolivia, strangers regularly climbed over my fences to take shortcuts cross country. The mere fact that property belongs to somebody else is not considered justification to force people who walk many miles every day to make long and circuitous detours. Those cultures evolved with a sense of civility, in which people doing no harm are deemed harmless until proved otherwise.
