What is the most chilling single line from a Twilight Zone episode (OS of course).

That was “The Invaders.” I love that episode. But I don’t remember anything else occurring after the tiny astronaut radios back home to say that the planet is dangerous. I thought that’s where Rod Serling wraps up the episode with his usual pithy remark.

I always liked the one where the aspiring fascist dictator kills the old jewish man who had raised him. The ghost of Hitler gives the guy $300 to rent a hall, for a racist speech. Finally, the guy begins to recognize how evil he has become…and Hitler steps out of the shadows and announces something like:
“and as for darkness, you might say that I invented it!”
Anybody remember this episode?

“The humans will do our work for us. There are countless Maple Streets, and we just go from one to another… one to another…”

“Mr. Bedeker… about that ‘escape clause’… would you like to utilize it now?”

No, I don’t, and I thought I’d seen every one of them. Aren’t there some TZ episodes that are hardly ever shown–or are called “lost” episodes?
Am I imagining this?

  1. “Wish it into the cornfield, son!”

  2. "It was closing up. Another few seoncds and half of you would have been here, and the other half . . . "

Yes. It was one of the hour-long episodes and I believe it was called “He’s Alive.” Dennis Hopper plays the young neo-Nazi.
