OK, I’m going to add another…constipation. Yes, seriously.
This week, an apparent side effect of a prescription pain killer was to block up my insides as though I’d eaten a couple pounds of wet cement. When my colon began spasming, I inadvertently made the situation worse by taking more painkillers of the same type. Sorry, wrong kind of pain, shouldn’t have done that. I was also taking OTC laxative on a Doctor’s recommendation, but it didn’t make a difference or I didn’t start it soon enough, not sure which.
After 48 hours of increasing discomfort and thinking it would go away on its own, I spent most of an intensely miserable night in a hospital ER having very unpleasant things done to me, which at least helped ameliorate the condition to the point where I could go home and pass out for a few hours. Couple days later and I still feel fairly washed out. In some ways this was every bit the ordeal that the kidney stones I had a couple weeks ago were, except that no one seems to take you very sympathetically if “All you’ve got is constipation”.
