I just need some nomenclature.
What are the connection boards called that are labeled A and B in this picture

I’m coming up with punchdown block for A.
A) is a 66 block.
B) is a VERY old type of connecting block, and I’m not sure what they are called.
Thanks!
Yes, punchdown block and 66 block seem to be what I’m after.
I have to do the last inch of a wiring project myself, due to AT&T’s arcane support rules. and without the names of the parts there was no way to find detailed instructions.
Which are here, for those scoring at home: How to install a 66 block, 66 connecting block
Collectively, it’s an MPOE, or Minimum Point Of Entry. Spoken, it’s an “emm-poe” rather than “emm pee oh ee” - it’s also referred to as a “demarc” or demarcation point between your wires and their wires.
Basically, it’s the absolute shortest distance possible from the outside world to inside your building - its location allows the phone company to use the minimum possible amout of their expensive cable.
The thing on the left is the old workhorse 66 punchdown block, with an empty bracket in the middle waiting for another one to be snapped in for expansion.
The thing on the right is a multi-line protector. (surge, lightning, etc)
