What is the name of this Turkish hat?

Like this one worn by the man, himself. Orson Welles wore a similar hat in "Journey into Fear{

Also, what about this monster that John Phillips used to wear (at about 0:54).

An Astrakahn Hat.

Thanks.

I followed your links just to find out who “The Man” is.

I mean, I’ve heard James Brown called “The Man”, or Elvis, or Bruce, or Jerry Lee, or even, at one depressing sorority party in early-Nixon-era Idaho, Barry Gibb.

I remember a DC press briefing where they quoted “The Man”, and I assumed they meant Obama, but they said, no, Biden loves to be called “The Man”. Obama just rolls his eyes and ignores it.

And just last week I had a half-blind saxophone player (who could be Morgan Freeman’s cousin on ganja) high-five me after a gig, and whisper “You be The Man”.

So imagine my confusion when I learn that I’m not James Brown, I’m … Kemal Ataturk?

Astrakhan is a fur, not a style. I believe that Atatürk is wearing a papakha. I don’t know what to call that thing on Phillips’s head, though it might also be called a papakha.

Ataturk is definitely The Man in Turkey. I have never seen so much adulation toward a dead national figure in my life. Republicans only wish they could love Reagan as much as the Turks love Ataturk.
