I’m starting to see embedded links for fishwrapper. TMZ does that anytime you quote their text. The wikipedia for back link doesn’t help much.
Why would a major web site want traffic directed elsewhere. Isn’t their revenue from web site traffic?

They’re both owned by EHM Productions. Right at the top of the Fishwrapper site it says “A Property of TMZ.” They are trying to send traffic to their other site, because TMZ doesn’t need a traffic bump, they get plenty.

I don’t have a cite at the moment but I recall that a websites ranking (as far as where it will come up on a websearch) can be determined by how many websites link back to it.
